Engineering Seminar in Springfield, Illinois is Attended by more than 250 Professional Engineers

Jeff Kortan, Director of Engineering for Foundation Supportworks, was invited to speak at an engineering “boot camp” in Springfield, Illinois during the week of October 4th. The 4-day event, sponsored by the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers (ISPE), was attended by over 250 professional engineers from the state of Illinois. The attendees were allowed to choose from a variety of break-out seminars during the week, with each seminar earning them professional development hours towards their registration requirements. Foundation Supportworks was asked by the ISPE to facilitate presentations for three of these seminars. Maintaining a focus on deep foundation solutions, Jeff presented on the following topics: Helical Systems 101 – Applications and Case Studies; Helical Systems 201 – Getting Technical; Hydraulic Push Piers – Retro-Fitting Foundations.

During intermissions, the attendees were able to spend time in the exhibit hall and meet with companies from around the area to learn about the different products and services they provide. Ben Good of Foundation Supportworks by Woods, and Josh Wennmacher of MidAmerica Basement Systems had a booth in the exhibit area displaying the foundation stabilization systems they provide.

FSI Moves Warehouse and Shipping Into New Facility

fsi-building-2-webFoundation Supportworks moved their warehouse and shipping operations to their new, permanent facility last month. During the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day, the FSI shipping and receiving department moved over 1,750,000 pounds (1,254 pallets) of product from a temporary warehouse to the new 27,000 square foot building. The first full order that was shipped from the new building went to Woods Basement Systems in Collinsville, IL on December 31st (See Photo).

fsi-building-1-webNew pallet racking has been ordered to take advantage of the building’s 30-foot ceiling height, providing even more useable floor space. The racking should be installed within the next few weeks. With three loading dock doors and a ramp with a drive in door, FSI is well-equipped to handle the shipping volumes expected from the FSI dealer network.

Myles Brown, FSI Shipping Coordinator, reports, “The space available within the new building makes organizing product and filling orders much easier. We will find even more efficiencies as we install racking and shift product to make better use of the space. Visitors are already impressed with this facility, and will be even more so after final grading and landscaping is completed in the spring.”
