Ragan Top Place to Work 2021

Awarded on Tuesday, April 26th

Team thinking keeps Woodford Bros. going during the pandemic

From Code Green rewards to paintball excursions, the company worked to maintain morale during a difficult year, making it a Top Place to Work in the Small Organization category of Ragan’s Employee Communications and Top Places to Work Awards.

When COVID-19 struck Woodford Bros., which specializes in basement waterproofing, foundation repair and more, many of the company’s office workers switched to working from home, but Woodford’s production crews were essential. They went out every day to help homeowners all over Woodford’s service area, working on the front lines during the pandemic.

To motivate employees and reward exceptional work, Woodford started the “Code Green” program: Every employee who receives a positive review from a customer receives a Code Green; twice a year all the Code Greens go into a barrel, and company owners Tom and Mike pull one lucky winner out — who gets $1,000.

To build teamwork and morale, the leadership team organizes free road trips and activities for employees, including paintball, ropes courses, go-karts, golf tournaments and even sponsored charity walks.

In addition to a benefits package that includes health, vacation and sick leave, and a 401(k) plan with a company match, the company provides a car wash for employees’ personal vehicles.

Woodford Brothers grew together as a company during the pandemic, building a family culture based on teamwork while continuing to deliver results for its customers.
