I recently moved into a 1909 home with a dirt basement. The basement itself seems to be in good shape generally speaking. At some point the roots from a neighbours tree started some bowing of one of the walls. The seller of the home lived here for 12 years and said the problem had not gotten any worse since she'd lived here but I would like to get a professional opinion and to discuss remediation options.

Our 1.5 storey house was built in 1948 and is about 600 sq ft on each full floor. The basement is about 7 ft high. We have a vertical crack under the main beam on the West side of the house. The basement floor is cracked throughout due to heaving, and has all been sealed. The basement floor slopes down toward the wall in the NE corner of the house. The main and upper floors also slope down towards the walls in the NE corner. There is a tree stump right next to the NE corner, and a large half-dead Manchurian Elm about 6 ft from the NE corner also. We can't see the inside of the basement wall in the NE corner as the basement walls are partially finished, but the floors are not. I'm hoping for an assessment of how serious this might all be, and what repairs might be needed.
