Dan Hersom from Nova Basement Systems

Dan joined our company in the summer of 1997!  Dan loves being hands on, and does a wide variety of work at Nova Basement Systems.  With his vast technical knowledge, Dan is usually the first person to try something new to make sure that an installation is done properly.  Dan enjoys being a leader, working with his group of guys, and fixing homes.  Dan takes a lot of pride in the work he does and his favorite thing is to see his customers happy!

In his off time, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters.  When he can, you will find Dan playing softball, bowling, and mudding.  Dan is an outstanding person, and we're lucky to have him here at Nova!

Crawlspace drainage and encapsulation
We apply a 20 ml vapor barrier to the crawlspace floor, and a 10 ml vapor barrier to the walls.
Any water that enters the basement above our waterproofing system will be flashed by the EmeShield directly into our system.
To help stabilize the bowing foundation walls, we drove 19 galvanized steel rods through the foundation out to anchor plates that we placed in the ground. We fill those anchor plate holes full of concrete to reinforce the strength of the anchor. To tackle the seepage concerns, we installed 124 feet of WaterGuard around the perimeter of the basement. This system would drain into a SuperSump pump, and it would then be ejected from the home through a discharge.

Wall Anchors are designed to stabilize a bowing foundation
In order to encapsulate this space, we needed to clean all the debris from the crawlspace.
We installed four Wall Anchors on the north east half of the foundation shooting stabilizing rods approximately 14 feet from the foundation past the carport. The anchors are installed first, in order to torque on the anchors to pull the wall back as much as the soil on the exterior will give. After being fully torqued, we installed Fortress Carbon Fiber Straps, and we pinned them to the footing and into the top of the wall with neckties.
