Still a bit unsure about the functioning of the check valve, but he is the expert and seems quite certain that everything is functioning properly.

Checked it out, got it sorted, shored up the hangers, everything was A+.

Area needed sweeping, but this was a short notice service call and I had no issue with the condition of the site. The condition of the actual apparatus (plumbing, cables, etc.) was very good.
