Given the elevated water table surrounding the home's foundation, the previously installed sump pump proved inadequate in managing the substantial water influx. A more robust waterproofing system was required to ensure the basement remains dry.
A sister joist was installed alongside a deteriorating joist to enhance reinforcement and structural integrity. This intervention significantly improves the load-bearing capacity of the floors above, effectively mitigating issues such as sagging and bouncy floors.
The sump pump already installed in the finished basement was unable to capture all water that surrounded the home's foundation due to a high water table. This left the basement prone to water intrusion.
The previously installed sump pump was insufficient to keep the basement dry, as it could not manage the high water table surrounding the home. This inadequacy resulted in water intrusion through cold joints, damaging the finished walls and flooring. To ensure a secure and dry finished basement, a comprehensive waterproofing system was imperative.
Our UltraSump Sump Pump provides reliable protection against water intrusion. As water fills in the sump pump basin, the pump activates to remove water from the home. In the event of a power outage, our battery-powered backup pump acts as a safeguard to ensure water is still able to be removed from the home.
The moisture in the crawlspace led to the settlement and degradation of the cinderblocks, compromising their structural integrity. Consequently, this resulted in inadequate support for the garage above.
We commenced the project by carefully removing the lower sections of the drywall and studs. To ensure structural integrity, we reinforced the walls with wooden planks. Subsequently, we meticulously chipped away tile and concrete along the basement perimeter to facilitate the installation of the WaterGuard system. This system effectively intercepts water before it infiltrates the basement space, directing it to the sump pump for efficient removal.
As illustrated in the photo, the brick support columns have begun to shift and deteriorate, indicating their inability to sustain the weight of the floors above. This results in sagging and bouncy floors.
