To install our helical piers into stable, load-bearing soil, we first expose the home's footing. Once the piers are drilled down, we secure them to the underside of the footing using our "L"-shaped brackets, which latch firmly beneath the foundation for a strong, permanent connection.
These anchors are shaped like a screw, (currently hidden underneath the soil) to help us drill them sideways into the soil. This shape also helps us prevent disturbing the soil.
We'll be able to prove to you that this garage foundation was sloping down near the right side of this picture in the next photo slide. Take a peek at the fridge, and then scroll to the next photo.
These steel beams along the wall will make sure the walls won't cave in any longer. They can also be adjusted over time to attempt to straighten the walls back out. We adjust them through their top bracket, which is connected to the floor joist system.
Windows and doors are a very common sign of settling. They are often the first problem to reveal because windows and doors are often the weakest structural point in a home.
Unfortunately, this driveway was in the way of where we wanted to install the piers, so we had to dig it up.
