Exposed block wall let's a lot of outside air in. Especially through the headers! 
The existing sump. No back-up and an open lid.
The lid is used to seal out radon and humidity on existing sump pump liners.
We drill into the basement floor and our pipe is sealed at the base. The round fan motor typically about 6ft off the floor.
The pipe needed to go through the foundation wall as seen here.
A radon system cannot function without an airtight lid. A water powered back-up takes up so much room, that a specialized lid has to be fitted to accommodate it.
One-piece lids are tough to access and work on. With radon mitigation systems, we need an air-tight lid.
This is about where will will drill into the slab and the radon system will start.
