I specialize in spray foam insulation, crawl space repair, foundation repair, and commercial air barriers. CleanSpace is a heavy-duty vapor barrier durable enough to be crawled on by service personnel. All the seams are overlapped and taped and fastened to the walls 6-8 inches above outside grade and all piers are wrapped. CleanSpace seals the earth off from the crawl space.
The silver strip across the top of the foundation walls is what we call the "Ries Piece." It is a solution developed by our production team to ensure we always have a clear viewing strip when applying spray foam insulation to the crawl space walls, for pest control companies per VA building code.
The paper backing of fiberglass insulation is like candy for mold. As moisture is trapped in the crawl space and relative humidity rises, along with warm temperatures, mold and mildew begin to grow on organic materials such as the backing of insulation and wood floor joists.
Mold and mildew have grown on many of the wooden floor joists of this crawl space. Mold will form on any organic materials within the crawl space when the relative humidity hovers around or above 60% during warmer temperatures. Mold spores will rise into the home above, and some health issues, such as asthma and irritation, can arise from extended exposure to mold spores
