Our O'Fallon, IL Customer found herself in deep water in her dirt floor crawl space after heavy rains hit the MetroEast this spring. Dr. Energy Saver installed a CleanSpace Crawlspace Encapsulation System, and a SmartSump to ensure this 'ankle-deep' flood is never seen again!

Drafts were constantly coming in this home and disturbing the residents who lived here.  The allergens outside were following the people inside and not letting them have peace.  After sealing the attic and basement with foam, the drafts stopped which meant the allergies were also put to a halt.

A dirt crawl space under a home can lead to unending problems. The earth has very high humidity in the soil. This water vapor moves easily into the crawl space and upwards into the house environment. Mold thrives and reproduces by producing airborne spores by the millions and some molds are toxic. Insects and critters of all kinds love the damp environment as well. The CleanSpace encapsulation system completely isolates your home from the earth. This dramatically reduces the humidity level in the air which, when combined with sealing outside air and dehumidification, will eliminate mold growth and rot from your crawl space and make the whole house a healthier environment.

The detail between the foundation wall, the sill plate, the rim joist, and the sub flooring allows for significant air leakage from the outside...especially when pipe wire penetrations are added. It is also this rim joist area that is often poorly insulated. Even when your rim joist is insulated with fiberglass bats, the outside air will still leak in through the bats, because this form of insulation acts as a filter. Spraying expanding foam insulation on the inside surface of the rim joist, to cover the sill plate down to the top of the basement wall, not only seals all air leaks very effectively, but it insulates as well.

This St.Louis,MO home needed to make the room over thier crawlspace more comfortable.  If your exterior walls are insulated with fiberglass batts, heat is consistently lost through the exterior walls during the winter, and gained during the summer, making your home very difficult and expensive to heat and cool. Dense packing cellulose into walls with fiberglass batts (or walls that have no insulation at all) is a great way to achieve the targeted R-value, as well as making your home more comfortable and efficient. Dense packed cellulose can also create a sound barrier in your exterior walls, too!
