Basement Sagging Floors in Fort Branch, IN
Our client in Fort Branch, IN, had a basement with a support system that was uneven and unable to properly handle the weight of the home above. This issue was causing structural instability, and if left unaddressed, it could have led to serious problems like sagging floors or more significant damage to the property over time.
Our team installed the SmartJack XT system and a Supplemental Beam, providing the necessary support to stabilize the structure and prevent uneven, sagging floors. The SmartJack XT and Supplemental Beam are both fully galvanized to prevent rust and corrosion, ensuring long-term durability. Additionally, the jacks can be adjusted as needed in the future to maintain proper support, safeguarding the home for years to come.
Bowing wall in Evansville, IN
A bowing wall was causing turmoil for a homeowner in Evansville, IN. Horizontal cracking near the middle of the wall is one of the first symptoms you will notice in the case of a bowing wall. Horizontal cracks usually start small and increase in width other times as the soil outside continues to put pressure on the wall. Luckily, horizontal cracking due to the bowing of the wall was the only sign since the homeowner was able to reach out to us in time. If the bowing of the walls is not taken care of, the sigs will progress into stair-step cracking, pushing in at the bottom of the wall, and leaning in at the top of the wall.
On the right side of the basement, as you step down the stairs, the bowing all stairs right back at you. What do we do to fix that? The PowerBrace! The PowerBrace system is designed to permanently stabilize your home's foundation. The zinc-plated steel beam is costumed to fit the basement height and secured tightly against it. One advantage of choosing the PowerBrace system is that it is a patented tightening system that allows the wall to be straightened over time. It gave the homeowner a sense of peace to know that the foundation of the home will be stable for years to come!
Stair-step Cracking in Henderson, KY
A home in Henderson Ky, needed extra love when the family reached out to us about a bowing wall in their basement. When it came time to inspect the wall, stair-step cracking was evident. Stair-step cracking at the corners of a bowing wall typically means that the problem is getting worse. As the wall bows more severely in the middle, the corners are held up by adjacent walls, creating the stair-step cracking effect.
There are a few options to repair bowing walls, such as stair-step cracking, but choosing which method depends on how your home is set up. This home did not have soil behind the wall since it led to a patio outside, so the wall anchor system would not be an option. The PowerBrace system was the best choice in this scenario since it is held up from within the inside of the basement. The family was pleased to have the basement safe for years to come!
Cracks in the Foundation of a Crawl Space in Madisonville, KY
A homeowner in Madisonville, KY, had concerns about their foundation due to their walls beginning to crack and unstable floors. In Kentucky, the soil contains clay. Whenever moisture enters the clay, it expands, but when it escapes due to the dry climate, it will shrink. As the soil began to shrink, it caused strain on the walls, causing them to crack. Repairing the foundation of the home would also fix the unstable floors from above.
Since the foundation was unstable, it needed to be stabilized using the heavy-duty SmartJack system. To address weak foundation soils, a two-foot cube of soil is excavated at each SmartJack location. The hole is then positioned on top of another base to hold the SmartJack in place and properly distribute loads. A high-strength, galvanized steel tubing is cut to the appropriate height. The steel column and components are assembled and connected to the support beam, and the SmartJack system is tightened into place, The support beam and floor joists are immediately stabilized and the above floor and walls can be lifted back toward level. It relieved the homeowner to know that the foundation of their home will be safe for years to come.
Stair-step Cracking in Poseyville, IN
In Poseyville, IN, a homeowner contacted us, wanting to inspect their basement wall. Upon further inspection, stairstep cracking was visible on the outside of the basement wall. Stair-step cracking means that wall failure is increasingly getting worse. As the wall bows more severely in the middle, the corners are held up by adjacent walls, creating the stairstep cracking effect. A foundation settlement caused a foundation problem such as this.
To reverse the stair-step cracking issue, the GeoLock Wall Anchor system is set. For a wall anchor system to work effectively, access of at least several feet is needed on the outside of your home. The reason behind this is that the rectangular anchor is placed inside a hole outside the home while the second one is placed inside the home, next to where the issue lays. A silver rod is drilled through the one-inch hole in the basement wall and is connected to the anchor seated deep within the hole. Once all the components of the wall anchor system are connected and tightened, your basement wall is permanently stabilized.
