Wet Basement in Earlham, IA

Homeowners Cheri and Doug kept getting water in their basement. They called Midwest, worried that the water would start creeping into other parts of their home. Doug was a little skeptical, but once we sent System Design Specialist, Kevin French, to their home to look at the basement and then explained exactly how we do things and why we do it, his mind was at ease.

Kevin found a small portion of a wall in the cellar of their basement leaking badly. After developing a plan, he sent the install team out to work their magic. We ended up installing WaterGuard on the wall that was leaking. WaterGuard is a drainage system designed to capture water seepage through walls. It's nearly invisible and essentially makes sure that water never reaches your basement floor. In addition, we ran a lateral line from the WaterGuard to the sump pump for proper drainage.

Cheri and Doug now have a water-free basement! They were so happy they chose Midwest Foundation Repair to give them an in-depth inspection and solve their problem at the same time.

Wall Support in Des Moines

This basement was experiencing extreme wall failure. We stabilized and permanently supported these walls by installing our EverBrace system. This system uses steel panels and beams to transfer the weight of the failing wall onto the new steel wall. Even though it looks pretty cool on its own, you can cover the steel wall with drywall to fit your design style.

Buried Discharge in Adel, IA

This homeowners buried discharge line was originally installed too shallow, causing it to jut out and cause problems with mowing and lawn health - two things that a buried discharge line should make better! We reinstalled the discharge, burying it the appropriate depth and moving it slightly so that it would no longer stick out awkwardly or kill the grass.

Basement Waterproofing and Wall Support in Adel, IA

Look at this sharp waterproofing system in this basement! There was water coming through the walls and the cold joint, as well as having bowing walls. To help combat these issues we installed our waterproofing systems including CleanSpace and WaterGuard. Cleanspace is the "white stuff on the walls." It is a waterproof, tarp-like material that collects any water from coming in through the walls and sends it to the WaterGuard. WaterGuard collects the water from the CleanSpace and cold joint and sends it to the sump pump, which will discharge the water out of the home at a safe distance. To help the the bowing walls, we installed PowerBraces, which are floor to ceiling braces to prevent any further deflection, and over time can be adjusted to help straighten the wall back out. Basement Water and Smells Fixed in Perry, IA

This homeowner was getting water in her basement making the house settle and causing a huge musty smell throughout her home. She wanted to stop her home from settling further and she wanted to have her home smell better. She gave us a call to get out advise as to what problem she should fix first.

We sent System Design Specialist Tyler Paulson to inspect the basement and foundation to determine what problem would harm her home most and discover what problem needs to be fixed first. Tyler found that water was getting in the basement because in periods of heavy rain, water was pooling at the foundation wall and creeping into the the floor joints and walls. After careful consideration, Tyler came to the conclusion that the basement needed waterproofing in order to stop it from settling, otherwise the home would continue to settle; The air quality problems known from the musty smells could also lead to further health issues. When he talked with the homeowner, the homeowner agreed that the waterproofing needed to be done completely to ensure that no water would get into the home and cause problems.

One of our installation teams went to this home and began to install CleanSpace Vapor Barrier and WaterGuard Interior Drainage System to encapsulate and guide water out of the home. Next, they got to work on redirecting and burying the homeowner's downspouts so that they would send water away from the home's foundation. Finally, the team tackled the air quality problems by installing a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier to rid the home of musty smells. When the homeowner saw the final product, she was very satisfied with her newly waterproofed home. Check out the new waterproofing systems!
