Encapsulating a Damp Crawl Space in York, ME

TC Hafford Basement Systems helped homeowners in York, ME with their damp, dirt floor crawl space. They knew moisture could cause mold, or wood rot on their support beams and floor joists. We used our two-step encapsulation system to protect the crawl space. First we install drainage matting, which helps control the ground water. Then we add our CleanSpace liner, a vapor barrier that seals out moisture. CleanSpace is made with an inorganic material that does not allow mold to grow. The homeowners have a fresh, clean crawl space that will protect their home and major systems for years to come!

Crawl Space Encapsulation with Vapor Barrier in York, Maine

Homeowners in York, Maine contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems for help with their crawl space. The crawl space was damp with dirt floors, and the owners were also experiencing sagging floors above the crawl space, which is an indicator that moisture is causing the support beams to fail. We encapsulated the crawl space with our two-step process that involves a layer of drainage matting as well as our CleanSpace vapor barrier liner. Spray Foam insulation was installed along the rim joists to seal the encapsulation and provide improved energy efficiency. Not pictured, we installed 6 SmartJacks which are zinc coated steel posts to immediately lift and level the floors above. SmartJacks will never rust or rot, providing unparalleled support for the home.

Crawlspace Encapsulation in Wells, ME

Our Wells, ME homeowner had a damp dirt floor crawlspace that they were tired of dealing with. They contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate to encapsulate the space. System Design Specialist Rick R. met with the homeowner to create a plan that would meet their needs.

To fully encapsulate the crawl space and keep moisture and critters out, CleanSpace with Drainage Matting was installed. Drainage Matting is a durable barrier with dimples to help channel water and elevate the CleanSpace, keeping it clean. CleanSpace is a durable, inorganic vapor barrier that gets attached to the walls and seals up the crawl space, keeping moisture out. A SmartSump was installed to capture water and pump it through the new Exterior Buried Discharge line. The Discharge line takes the water far from the home and with the installation of IceGuard, the entire system is protected against ice buildup in the winter. Not only is the homeowner able to enjoy their home with better air quality and without having to worry about water in their crawl space. Finishing out the full waterproofing system was the installation of a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier.

Kennebunk, ME homeowners reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems when they realized some of the brick supports in their crawl space were crumbling. The home was built in the 1850's and needed help stabilizing the area. We protected the crawl space from water by encapsulating it with CleanSpace and drainage matting. It's Raining in The Crawl Space

With up to 6 inches of water in their crawl space during heavy rains and no intentions to ever move, this Kennebunk homeowner refused to let their crawl space rain on their heads anymore. After calling TC Hafford Basement Systems, System Design Specialist Ron Bedard drove out to the home to meet with the owner. Looking to avoid mold and any home damage, Ron and the homeowner worked together to design a system that would take care of the needs of the home while meeting the homeowners’ expectations.

CleanSpace with Drainage Matting was laid down and attached to the walls to act as a barrier, keeping outside elements outside where it won’t be a problem. Two Interior Discharge Lines are connected to two SuperSumps that will push any ground water outside through an exterior discharge line where it won’t be a problem. Finally, a SaniDry Sedona was installed in the crawl space to maintain safe humidity levels. The homeowner now can rest with peace of mind that they won’t have to worry about it raining in their crawl space anymore.
