CleanSpace Walls Brighten Beals, ME Basement

Beals, ME homeowners contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems for help with their wet and leaking basement. We poured a new slab along with slab WaterGuard around the perimeter of the basement. WaterGuard helps channel any water to the brand new TripleSafe Sump Pump. The TripleSafe features two Zoeller sumps and a battery-powered backup for protection if they lose power. The TripleSafe drains water out of the basement and through an Exterior Buried Discharge line that is protected against ice buildup with IceGuard. CleanSpace Wall System was installed to act as a vapor barrier where needed and channel any additional moisture from the walls to the WaterGuard. SprayFoam insulation was installed on the rim joists keeping cold air out during the winter, making the space more comfortable, and saving the homeowner money on their energy bill.

Water Issues Resolved in Vanceboro

System Design Specialist Craig Z. met with a Vanceboro, ME homeowner to give a free estimate on repairing their leaky basement issues. We installed the BrightWall system which acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, and is easy to clean and never discolors. The BrightWall channels any moisture to WaterGuard which is installed around the perimeter of the basement, funneling water to a new TripleSafe sump pump. The TripleSafe features two Zoeller sumps and a battery-powered backup. It drains water out of the basement and through an Exterior Buried Discharge line. Lastly we added a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier which drains into the TripleSafe for easy water removal. Our homeowner has a new bright and dry basement!

A Complete Encapsulation System

Every time heavy rain comes through, this Machiasport, ME basement fills with a couple of inches of water, causing severe moisture issues for the homeowner. It’s important to take care of issues like this quickly to prevent damage that can ruin the health of the home and create an unsafe space to live in. The homeowner scheduled a free estimate with TC Hafford Basement Systems and worked with System Design Specialist Craig Ziegenbein to design an encapsulation system that would help the homeowner protect their home's health.

CleanSpace with Drainage Matting is laid on the ground to create a channel for water and an inorganic barrier between the CleanSpace and the outside elements. The CleanSpace Wall System was installed to create a full encapsulation system to keep moisture out of the space. The water has to go somewhere, so a SmartSump Sump Pump was installed to pump water through the new Exterior Buried Discharge Line. To keep the system running all year, even during the winter, IceGuard was installed on the Discharge Line to prevent ice from building up. Finally, a SaniDry Sedona was installed and connected to a condensate pump that drains to the SmartSump. Now, humidity will stay at a safe level, and the homeowner will never have to worry about emptying a bucket of water. The space is fully encapsulated, and the home’s health is protected.

Eastport Homeowner Concerned About Their Damp Crawl Space

This Eastport, ME, homeowner was worried that their damp and musty crawl space would eventually lead to health issues if the problem wasn’t solved. With no plan of moving or selling the home, the homeowner also wanted to address the problem of the floors above the crawl space being cold in the winter months. The homeowner called TC Hafford Basement Systems for help, and System Design Specialist Craig Ziegenbein met with the homeowner for a free estimate.

Craig worked with the homeowner to design a crawl space encapsulation system that would surpass the expectations of the homeowner and protect the health of the home and their family. CleanSpace with Drainage Matting was laid down and attached to the walls to encapsulate the space, creating an inorganic barrier to protect from moisture and outside elements. A SmartSump was installed to pump groundwater out of the space and through an Exterior Buried Discharge Line. A SmartJack was installed to provide additional support to the floor above, and to finish the system, a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier was installed to keep humidity at a safe level. Having to regularly empty out a dehumidifier bucket can be annoying, so to prevent the homeowner from having to check often, the SaniDry Sedona is connected to the SmartSump, ensuring all water is pumped out of the crawl space and no bucket ever has to be emptied.

The crawl space is now fully encapsulated, and the homeowner can live and enjoy their home without the concern of a damp and musty crawl space affecting the health of their family and home.

Energy Saving Crawl Space

Heating a home during the winter can be expensive, and if you have an open crawl space, you're virtually burning money. A crawl space without insulation leads to cold air coming in through your foundation during the winter and hot air warming your home during the summer. Looking to save money on their energy bill and protect the health of their home year-round, this York, ME, homeowner called Dr. Energy Saver by TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate.

System Design Specialist Nima Farshid worked with the homeowner to test how energy-efficient their home is with a Blower Door Test. A Blower Door Test measures how much air leaks in or out of a building, helping the homeowner and Nima have a better understanding of what needs to be done to the home. Encapsulating the crawl space was the first step in the plan, so CleanSpace with Drainage Matting was laid down, creating an inorganic seal between the crawl space and the earth. Vent Covers were installed to close off vents that would otherwise let outside air flow right into the crawl space. SprayFoam was installed on the walls and rim joists to insulate the crawl space. SprayFoam is a closed-cell foam that is not only a thermal barrier but also a powerful moisture barrier since it does not absorb water.

With the crawl space encapsulated with CleanSpace and sealed with SprayFoam, the homeowner now owns a more energy-efficient home that is healthier, and they no longer have to deal with cold floors in the winter and a humid crawl space during the summer.
