Project Location: Lowell, MA 01852

Comment: I live in Lowell, MA and am need of putting my house back on the market however am in desperate need of fixing my retaining wall in my yard before I can do so. Currently, due to past years of weather, the wall is listing forward. We currently have a roughly 42 foot long just under 6 foot high concrete retaining wall on my property. We have had contractors and foundation companies come in and provide us with plans to perform demolition and build a new wall. The two issues with this are the costs and the more difficult issue being that the wall is continuous into my neighbors yard as well. My neighbor currently cannot afford to do the same to his wall and therefore we cannot have someone come in and make a cut to the wall to do the demolition because should something happen to his side of the wall there become legal issues involved with liability responsibility. The city Building Commissioner came out to my property and suggested anchoring the wall back. He stated that this would be the best cost effective choice and also would not need to have the liability issues with the neighbor since no demolition would need to be done. After speaking with my neighbor last night, he would be on board to also have his side anchored down as well. Would someone be able to come out and take a look at the retaining wall?
