Repairing Basement Windows in Niles, MI

A customer needed an egress window installed in his basement because he wanted to turn part of it into a livable space. So he called our team and we installed one, egress windows are required because they are big enough to provide a safe exit in case of emergency. In addition, these windows provide lots of natural light. Lastly, most windows offer minimal protection against outside air entering the home due to poor insulation around the window. Egress windows will help ventilate your indoor areas and prevent unwanted allergens from entering your house.

Egress Window Transforms Space and Makes Niles, MI Basement Safer

Herman was looking to get an Egress Window to replace his current small basement window in his basement, so he called Ayers. We had our team set up an appointment and we started the installation process. With an Egress Window Herman will have a safe exit in his basement in the event an emergency takes place and it is even waterproof so he won't have to worry about water seeping in. They are much larger than the typical small windows in most basements which allows for more natural light and fresh air to fill the room.

Herman was grateful to get his tiny basement window replaced with a more attractive and safe window!

Basement Window Facelift in Bourbon, IN

One of the reasons basements have windows is an emergency exit. But would you want to try to shimmy your way through this home's old window? In addition to a waterproofing system (photos coming tomorrow), we installed a new, less frightening, window.

Thorough Waterproofing In Bourbon, IN Basement

This basement had quite a few issues. Mold was one issue. The major issue, which caused the first, was water entering the space, mainly through wall cracks. In a small area, a little water feels like a really big issue and a large amount of water means real trouble. This homeowner took the wind right out of those worries with a perimeter drainage system called WaterGuard. We installed this system right on the footing of the home by removing a small amount of concrete around the base of the wall. The drain is put in place and the concrete is replaced aside from the small gap seen along the perimeter. We also added a sump pump to direct the water to for removal from the home. The sump pump has an airtight lid, floor drain, and an alarm to alert the homeowner if the pump fails or is not keeping up. Finally, we installed a SaniDry XP dehumidifier to help keep water vapors down and prevent musty smells in the basement.

CleanSpace Wall System Prevents Hazardous Water Vapor from Seeping into a Bourbon, IN, Basement

Greg's block foundation was cracking, causing the blocks to shift and break. After calling Ayers for a professional solution, we recommended our CleanSpace wall system. CleanSpace is a durable, white plastic liner that prevents water vapor from entering through these cracks in the walls. Not only will the space brighten substantially, he won't have to worry about water seeping through. The liner drains any leaks from the wall into a drainage system. Greg's basement appears more attractive and has protection from future wall moisture!
