Jim and Debra, homeowners in Roscommon, MI, needed professional crawlspace repairs to address cold floors, musty smells, and past pipe issues. The couple was thrilled with the crew’s dedication and the improved warmth of their floors, praising the high-quality work and excellent results.
Beaverton, MI Crawl Space Gets Insulation and a Full Encapsulation
These Beaverton, MI customers called because they were interested in crawl space insulation and an encapsulation. As you can see in the before photo, they already had a system in place, but sadly, it wasn’t getting the job done. Many use plastic tarps like these to encapsulate their crawl spaces. The problem is they’re not guaranteed to keep water out, at least, not like our CleanSpace system. CleanSpace is a vapor barrier that is impenetrable by moisture.
Seen in the after photo, the liner covers the entire dirt floor, one of the most common places for moisture to enter crawl spaces. To give the customers the insulation they were looking for, the crew also installed the silver wall panels in the after photo. These panels are referred to as our SilverGlo Wall Insulation. The silver surface reflects heat back to its source, just like the radiant barriers placed behind car windshields. With these two systems in place, this crawl space is now protected from moisture and abnormal temperatures.
CleanSpace Saves Beaverton, MI Crawl Space
David and Marie are retiring soon and moving up North. When they went in the home, they noticed a musty odor. They called Ayers for an inspection and we saw that there was no standing water at the time, but there were signs of some water intrusion at some point. Our crew determined that David and Marie would need CleanSpace to properly address their concerns.
The CleanSpace Wall System is a moisture barrier that uses a thick plastic liner along basement and crawl space walls to keep them dry and last decades longer. It also has antibacterial properties that prevent mold and bacteria growth. Damp air takes more energy to heat and cool. Cutting down on the moisture in the crawl space, in turn, will cut down on how much it costs to heat or cool the home.
David and Marie were thrilled to be able to get this taken care of and have to musty scent gone before they officially move in. They were more than pleased with the work performed by Ayers and can’t wait to start their retired lives together.
CleanSpace Restores Wet, Gross Webberville, MI Crawl Space
Another spring day, another creepy crawl space. We had installed a sump system for this customer ten years ago, so when she decided something had to be done about her wet, gross crawl space before she could sell the house, she turned to us again.
In addition to getting and keeping the space dry, she wanted to increase the energy efficiency of the crawl space and house above it to make it more attractive to potential buyers, so we installed the CleanSpace crawl space vapor barrier system with drainage matting and drain tile, and Froth Pack Stone Wall insulation. Good luck on your sale!
Repairing a 100-Year-Old Crawl Space in Webberville, MI
The owner of this 100-year-old Webberville, MI home wanted to turn his basement into a usable space. But before he could get to work on that, he needed to solve his crawl space issues.
The original crawl space had a dirt floor, cobwebs, and a sinking ceiling. It was definitely a fixer-upper. The sinking ceiling not only threatened the crawl space but the room above as well. To keep the floor above from ending up in the basement, the crew attached 8 steel beams across the floor joists for added support. Then, using 9 SmartJacks, spread out across the crawl space, they lifted the floor back to its original position. With the foundation secure, the team turned their eye on encapsulating the crawl space. One of the great benefits of a CleanSpace encapsulation is that the liner can be wrapped around objects in its path, so the new SmartJacks didn’t hinder installation at all. The plastic vapor barrier will keep humidity and moisture out of the crawl space to prevent further damage to the wood foundation. For a bit of added protection, the crew sprayed FrothPak, a waterproof foam insulation, throughout the crawl space.
