Supporting a Failing Foundation Wall in Grand Rapids MI

This Grand Rapids couple had a bowing basement wall and some walls had cracks on it. They were worried about the support of the walls so they called us for a solution. We installed PowerBraces and CarbonArmor stabilize their basement walls. The PowerBrace Wall Repair System stops further movement of the wall and could potentially straighten the wall. It is made up of steel beams that are secured to the joists above the wall with steel brackets. The system does not involve any exterior excavation and installs quickly with minimal disruption. The CarbonArmor Wall Reinforcing System is great for walls that have cracking. This system consists of flexible carbon fiber straps. These straps are bonded to the walls using a high strength resin. This system stabilizes the wall, does not require exterior excavation, installs quickly, and does not impact the finishing of your basement.

PowerBrace Supports Bowing Wall in Grand Rapids, MI Basement

Kathy was in need of foundational support for her bowing basement wall to ensure her home stays safe. She discovered that Ayers provides foundation solutions so she gave us a call. Our team concluded from the free inspection we conducted that she would need our PowerBrace solution.

With PowerBrace installed, this will correct the bowing concrete wall in her basement. Outside pressures are typically the main culprit that cause these basement walls to crack or tilt. This system will not only secure Kathy's wall in place, but it will also straighten the wall over time. The PowerBrace consists of steel beams that stretch the length of the wall and are installed in the floor at the base of the wall then are attached to the joists above the wall.

Now Kathy doesn't have to worry about her bowing wall getting worse with this long-lasting solution!

PowerBrace System Holds Back Bowing Wyoming, MI Walls

The slight bend of the wall in the before photo is the result of soil expanding and putting added pressure on the foundation. When the wall can no longer take the pressure, it results in bowing. In the after photo, you can see the PowerBrace system that resists the bowing motion of the walls. The beams stretch from an attachment in the foundation floor to brackets in the floor joist ceiling. The special bracket attached to the floor joists can be tightened to push the walls closer to their original upright position. As you can see in the after photo, it took several different beams to hold back each part of the wall. The wall won't bend again from any amount of soil pressure, and in due time, may even end up back at its original position.

Stabilizing Walls at a Football Field

An athletic facility in Wyoming had some cracks on the walls, some of the cracks being in the concrete where the stands to the football field are. They wanted the cracks sealed and the stadium safe. We used CarbonArmor to seal the cracks and stabilize the walls. This foundation repair system requires no excavation and they install very quickly!

Stabilizing and Lifting a Sunken Garage in Grand Rapids MI

Bryan's garage has become unlevel due to the rear corner settling. He wanted it corrected but was worried that having the garage lifted would negatively impact the roof of the home and garage. We used Helical Piers to keep the roof safe while leveling the garage corner. These piers stabilize the foundation and lift if back to the original level. They also have year-round installation that does not take too much time.
