Our friend Shawn in Hudsonville, MI found himself telling his guests “be careful on my uneven sidewalk” as they approached his home. Not only did this un-even sidewalk become a liability, it also became a water drainage problem. During storms Shawn’s sidewalk was causing large water puddles to form right near his home. Shawn’s parents suggested that he replace the concrete, but he found it hard to believe there weren’t more effective and less invasive options available to him. We received a call from these homeowners specifically asking about our PolyLevel system. The walkway leading up to the front porch of their Hopkins, MI home was unlevel and in need of a solution. As you can see in the before picture, the concrete located next to the garage doorway was sinking well below the other slabs. George P.’s porch was sinking away from his home. The could be settling for various reasons including a change in the soil’s moisture content, soil washed out from under the slab, or poorly compacted soil.
