A Troy, MI homeowner had discovered a new musty smell in their home after 40 years of living in it. They came to the realization that the smell was originating from their crawl space. Once they had done a personal inspection on their home, they had found water leakage. Concerned this would cause damage to the wood and foundation, they decided to give HomeSpec a call. 

HomeSpec’s senior project manager, Mark, inspected this residence and confirmed that water had accessed the crawl space. Mark had proposed to the homeowners that a TripleSafe™ Sump Pump System accompanied with SmartPipe™ perimeter drainage pipe Drainage system would be the best fit for their situation. The homeowners agreed, and the team got to work waterproofing the homeowner’s crawl space. At the end of the installations the team members were able to encapsulate the crawl space with CleanSpace® vapor barrier to combat the musty smells from returning. The homeowners were happy knowing their crawl space was suited to keep water from damaging their home.

A homeowner in Saline, MI, noticed water leakage in the basement. The basement is unfinished, but the homeowners use the space for storage. Many people neglect their crawl spaces, especially the crawl space door. The door on this Palmyra crawl space was wooden and damaged by water. Bricks were placed in front just to hold the door shut.
