A homeowner from Saint Paul Park, MN, had just learned about the dangers of radon gas. While she admittedly knew very little about the gas, that didn't stop her from heading to her local home improvement store to purchase a radon gas test. After conducting the test at home, she was shocked when the levels in her home returned higher than normal. She quickly decided to find a radon specialist in MN. When she found our website, she claimed her FREE estimate, and several weeks later, our Design Specialist, Brad W, was headed out to the home. 

When Brad arrived, he got right to work scouting out a place for a radon mitigation system. When he finished his walkthrough, he met with the homeowner. Brad began by saying that the homeowner was right to get in touch with us. Brad explained that radon gas is a colorless, odorless, tasteless gas that comes from the breakdown of soil surrounding your home's foundation. It enters your home through small cracks and holes in the foundation, and silently wreaks havoc on the lining of the lungs. Brad finished by saying that radon gas is the second leading cause of lung cancer, claiming 21,000 lives annually. Brad could tell the homeowner was growing uneasy, so he reassured her that we could help. Brad strongly urged the homeowner to install a radon mitigation system. A typical radon mitigation system consists of a large-diameter plastic pipe that connects the air beneath your foundation to the outdoors. An in-line fan sucks radon-rich air from beneath your foundation and expels this hazardous air to the exterior. Instead of entering your basement or other living space area through numerous gaps and cracks in the foundation, radon gas is extracted from beneath your foundation before it can permeate into interior space. The homeowner was thrilled with Brad's solution and signed on the spot. 

On the day of the installation, our Foreman, Dakota M, was able to effortlessly place the radon mitigation system. Now, our customer is thrilled to know the air circulating in her home was only the cleanest! 

David, from Bemidji, MN, was growing more concerned over the state of his crawl space. If a crawl space begins to rot, grow mold, or experience structural problems, issues can extend to all parts of the home. David wanted to understand why it was happening, ensure the issue was corrected, and restore peace of mind. After deciding on our company, we set him up with a FREE inspection. A few weeks later, our Design Specialist, Richie, headed to the property. Once he completed his walkthrough, he recommended how American Waterworks could help. Richie explained that crawl spaces will show mold, must, and wood rot, even if it is ventilation, because these vents do not work.

Our Foreman, Tanner, went out with his crew to help solve the problems of dampness and must that can lead to things like foundation issues and even radon gas. Tanner and the team cleared the space and implemented our drainage matting. This dimpled matting gets installed onto the crawl space floor, giving any excess water a route to flow through the space and be disposed of at an external site such as a drain or a sump system. The second step was our CleanSpace vapor barrier, a 100% waterproof tarp that traps any excess moisture in the space, redirecting it to the appropriate disposal site. Finally, our team added an Aprilaire dehumidifier, which creates healthy air and can reduce the number of viable viruses to less than 1% in two days when set to 50% relative humidity. This and our crawl space liner will create a drier, healthier crawl space. Our crawl space liner is made with seven layers of tough, durable material designed to withstand traffic from the homeowner and workers -- with a 25-year written, transferable warranty! David was pleased with the results and grateful his peace of mind was restored.

A homeowner in Bemidji, MN, noticed that his home was taking a long time to heat up during the winter. During the inspection, James explained to the homeowner that one of the common causes of crawl space damage is vents. This is moisture vets allows moisture to come in, causing the walls, floor joists, and insulation to become saturated with water from condensation. For this reason, James recommended CleanSpace, our vapor wall barrier that prevents water from permeating the floors and walls, and Drainage Matting, an extremely durable matting that creates drainage space between the CleanSpace and the ground beneath the crawl space. The homeowner happily agreed and decided to schedule the installation date. 

In about a month, our Foreman, RJ L., and his crew arrived at the home for the installation. They installed 803 sqft of CleanSpace and 527 sqft of Drainage Matting. After they were done with the installation, they cleaned up their equipment and left the home.

One of our Pine Island, MN neighbor's contacted American Waterworks with concerns about their unlevel driveway and cracked concrete garage apron.  More specifically, Britt & Julie's garage door would not seal completely when closed, allowing water to seep into their parking space. American Waterworks used our trusted PolyLevel system to lift and level the concrete driveway slabs back to their original position and replaced the concrete garage apron to prevent any further water damage.
