Cracked Wall Addressed in Farwell, MN
Cailen, a homeowner in Farwell, MN, was concerned with the state of his basement. A failing wall was leaking water into the space. He contacted us because he was afraid that, if left unchecked, the failing foundation would compromise the home's structural integrity and affect the basement's window sills, which could become costly further down the road.
When he called us, we were able to set him up with our FREE estimate, so our Design Specialist, Jesse, headed out to the property to do a thorough inspection of the issue and how we could help fix the issue. When he completed his walkthrough, he recommended using our GeoLock wall anchors. He explained to Cailen that our GeoLock anchors are the ideal solution to permanently stabilize a foundation wall by anchoring the problem wall to the hard-packed virgin soil beyond the foundation. Cailen agreed to the work, and the project began shortly after.
Our Foreman, Lane, and crew installed three GeoLock anchors on the wall. These anchors allow minimal disturbance to lawn and landscaping. This system can be tightened over time to further straighten foundation walls and pull them back into their original position, which added further peace of mind. Once the job was finished, Cailen was satisfied that his failing wall worries were in the past!
Cracked Basement Wall in Bird Island, MN
A homeowner in Bird Island, MN, grew concerned regarding the large cracks in their foundation walls. Instead of ignoring the issue, the homeowner searched for a permanent solution to the issue. After comparing many foundation repair companies, the homeowners decided to work with American Waterworks. The homeowners called our Appointment Center and set up their FREE estimate. After the appointment details were finalized, Ryan, one of our Design Specialist, traveled to the home to begin his inspection. Following his detailed inspection, Ryan recommended to the homeowner that the wall be permanently stabilized. The homeowners understood the risk of not solving the issue, so they agreed with Ryan's suggestions. Ryan sent his plans to the assigned crew and production began. Our Foreman, Hugo, and his crew traveled to the home to begin the stabilization process. The crew installed fourteen Geo-Lock anchors on the south and east walls. After the Geo-Locks were properly installed, the crew moved on to installing five strips of CarbonArmor on the west wall. Once Hugo and the crew completed their job, they cleaned up the job site and left the home. The homeowners were impressed by the job done by the crew. American Waterworks loves assisting homeowners in accomplishing their projects and goals.
Crawl Space Supported in Hendrum, MN
Wayne, a homeowner in Hendrum, MN, was concerned about the state of his crawlspace. The space had a floor joist cut through while the plumbing was installed in the bathroom, causing the floor to settle. After looking at what American Waterworks does, he scheduled a FREE Estimate with our Design Specialist, Kole. Kole went to the home to inspect the problem and devise a solution. Following a thorough examination, Kole recommended that Wayne invest in our crawl space support posts. Specifically, Kole shared about our SmartJack Crawl Space Support System. Wayne was confident in the solution presented, so he proceeded with the project.
Our crew, led by our Fargo Field Supervisor, Corey, headed to the property shortly after and got to work. First, they installed a 6' supplemental support beam. To be stable, strong and level, the floor above a crawl space requires solid mid-span support, usually provided by a post-and-beam assembly. Next, the crew installed 2 1'-3' SmartJacks. The SmartJack® system supports sagging and undersized beams, restoring stability and straightness to sagging floor joists in a crawl space. Once installed in your crawl space, SmartJack® support posts can correct problems such as sloping and overly springy floors, interior wall cracks, and out-of-level door frames. Because of the design, it can be adjusted over time to provide additional straightening and leveling action if necessary. Finally, even though the crawlspace was already encapsulated, our team needed to notch some out for the SmartJacks, which meant that we also patched up the clean space to leave it better than we found it! Wayne was satisfied with the project and was grateful we could assist him with his home repair needs!
Failing Wall Repaired in Hanska, MN
A Hanska, MN, homeowner was down in his basement one day when he did a double-take while looking at his basement wall. He could swear the basement wall seemed to be bowing inward. He didn't think much of it, and one day found himself at the New Ulm Home + Health Show where he met our Design Specialist, Dylan W. He and Dylan got to chatting about the wall and Dylan informed the homeowner that a bowing wall could be an indicator of foundation failure, so the two set up a time for Dylan to complete a FREE inspection appointment at his home.
When Dylan arrived at the home several weeks later, he headed right to the basement. When he finished his inspection, he met with the homeowner. Dylan informed him that basement walls are designed to withstand loads from above, not from the side. So when the pressure being exerted on the side of the wall exceeds what the wall can withstand, it's not uncommon for homeowners to see bowing or cracking. Dylan reassured the customer that while the issue seemed daunting, he had the perfect solution. Dylan wanted to use our GeoLock anchors to address the bowing wall, stating that these anchors counteract the pressure on the wall by anchoring it to the undisturbed soil beyond the foundation of the home. The homeowner agreed with Dylan's plan and scheduled the job on the spot.
Eventually, the day of the project rolled around. Our Foreman, Kiko P, led his team through the swift installation of 8 GeoLock anchors throughout the basement. Now, our customer can breathe a bit easier knowing his foundation is no longer in trouble!
