A homeowner in Duluth, MN reached out to DBS when they observed ice dams forming on their roof, causing them to worry about their home's well-being. They wanted to prevent damage and find a permanent solution for their home. Our Design Specialist went out to the property to do a free, no-obligation estimate to determine the best solution for the homeowner. After the inspection, our Design Specialist recommended our Spray Foam and cellulose insulation solution. 

Our Foreman, Nicholas Wood led the installation of this project with help from a team. The crew began by removing the old insulation and debris. Then they began the insulation process with the first layer of Spray Foam insulation since it also acts as an air sealant and a moisture barrier. Cellulose insulation is then blown into the space to help create a lasting and effective solution. Now this homeowner can relax in their healthy home!

This homeowner in Duluth, MN had concerns about ice dams and vermiculite being asbestos. With four kids and plans to reside in the home long-term, ensuring safety and structural integrity was paramount.

Our Appointment Center promptly set up a free, no obligation inspection with Design Specialist Heidi. During the inspection, vermiculite was found uncovered and signs of moisture spreading in the attic, with a back bedroom exhibiting discoloration on the ceiling. To address these issues, a hybrid system with baffles was recommended, coupled with preemptive measures like MoldX© treatment post-removal. Design Specialist Henry Jungbauer is an expert in energy-saving solutions and visited the home to provide a free, no-obligation estimate. After a thorough inspection, Henry drafted a custom-plan to seal this dirt crawl space and protect the home above it.

Foreman Orrin Sundberg and his production crew installed drainage matting and CleanSpace® vapor barrier. The drainage matting helps water properly drain from the space. In turn, the vapor barrier prevents condensation in the wet dirt from evaporating into the air and traveling up into the living space.

Our crew finished the encapsulation job by using spray foam to seal and insulate the crawl space rim joists. This will prevent cold air from entering the crawl space and cooling the living space above it.

The homeowner was happy with the work done, and now has a solid solution to protect their home year-round.
