Fixer-Upper Home with Wall Instability in Rush City, MN Stabilized with CarbonArmor® Wall Reinforcing System

This homeowner in Rush City, MN had bought a fixer-upper hoping to update the basement of the home. However, the renovations could not progress any further without addressing the problems with the foundational wall support. Needing expert advice and peace of mind, the homeowner turned to DBS for help.

Design Specialist Mike Anderson provided a free no-obligation estimate for the owner in order to find the best solution for the home. After careful inspection, Mike recommended that the owner install a CarbonArmor® Wall Reinforcing System.

Foreman Osia Williams led the installation of this solution with help from a team. Carbon Armor was needed because of limited space availability. The solution needed to remain inside the home but still be able to fully support the wall. Suffering from 1" sheering, multiple wall straps were needed to ensure the walls would be completely and permanently supported. This solution is made out of materials that are 10-times stronger than steel and will prevent the wall from any further movement.

This new homeowner can now continue with his basement renovation knowing this DBS solution is secure and discreet.

Hunting Shack Stabilized in Palisade Minnesota

This hunting shack in Northern Minnesota was quickly shifting as the concrete columns in the ground moved with the shifting soil. The owner of this property understood what the outcome would look like if the home shifted any further and knew it was time to get an expert analysis. We helped this customer to see what types of permanent options we could provide for the home and he decided using helical piers was the smartest choice for his situation. We used these piers in combination with steel beams to provide permanent and level support for the whole building.

Family Cabin in Palisade, MN Stabilized and Ready for Improvements

This family cabin in Palisade, MN was recently purchased. In order to make it a space for the whole family to enjoy, the new owners would like to expand the floorplan. Because the cabin has some issues with settling, they would like to level and support the structure before adding on.

DBS Design Specialist James Miller visited the home for a free, no-obligation estimate. After diagnosing the structural issues, James created a plan using our SmartJack and helical pier system.

DBS Foreman Trevor Ingle and his crew completed this stabilization project. 6 SmartJack® adjustable beams were installed beneath the cabin to support the floor joists in the crawl space. To raise and level the cabin foundation, our crew drove 12 helical piers into the ground around the perimeter. Once these piers reach stable soil, the weight of the cabin is transferred to the strata layer far beneath the ground's surface.

This cabin is now structurally sound and the family can move on with their plans to expand and renovate this Northwoods retreat!
