This meant the family was at risk for the long-term health effects associated with radon, including lung cancer. With a basement renovation planned, it was essential they protect the new living space from this hazardous and almost undetectable gas, which is likely to rise from the soil and seep through a home's foundation. To offer peace of mind, Erickson Foundation Solutions installed a radon mitigation system for the family.

They had been testing their radon levels with an electric radon detector which the basement was averaging 2.8 but has spiked to as high as 6 pCi/l. The Design Specialist came to the home and explained to the homeowners about the potential issues and risks of radon. Sharron P. of Candia, New Hampshire wanted to get her partially-finished basement tested for radon. Sharron called EFS about having someone come out to her home to test for radon. EFS Design Specialist David Cormier came to the home and tested for radon in the basement. The results of the test came back high at 15 pCi/L. David proposed that Sharron have EFS install a radon mitigation system in their home.
