The homeowner called us due to high humidity in the basement. Inspection revealed an open sump pit system. Open sumps allow water to evaporate in the  space which increases the humidity levels throughout the home.

Advanced Basement Systems installed their sump pump system which includes a sealed lid and rubber grommets to prevent water vapour in the basement. The lid has easy access for service. The homeowners included a Sani Dry Sedona Air System, which will allow the basement to remain dry all year.

The smaller bungalow was built in the 1970’s with a full basement. The walls are poured concrete and in relatively good shape. Small cracks have formed over time and water seepage is starting to become more of an issue. Originally the plans for this home did not include a sump system to divert water away from the home.

Advanced Basement Systems was called to inspect and give the homeowner options to eliminate water seepage and humidity. Water Guard drainage was provided around the full perimeter of the basement along with 4 feet of Thermal Dry Barrier on the walls. A complete sump pump system with battery back-up was added for further protection. Now the home will drain the water away from the exterior walls and eliminate water seepage onto the basement floors. The humidity will diminish over time and the home will be more comfortable to live in.

Problem:  The paving stones outside this basement were not properly graded and over time water was entering the basement through the window structure.
