SuperSump in Asheville, NC
This crawlspace in Asheville, SC had major water issues. There had been an old pump that was placed in the basement that had long stopped working. To solve this problem our team installed a SuperSump system. This design of Sump Pump is a reliable pump with a WaterWatch alarm system and patented SuperLiner. The SuperSump can capable of pumping 2,650 gallons an hour and can also pump up to ½ of solids. The WaterWatch Alarm that is connected to the pump is there to alert you if any water has reached the top of the pump. The SuperLiner has over 96 holes that allow water to flow into the pump from under the floor. Overall this pump is one of the best that someone can have in their basement or crawlspace to keep water out!
Crawl Space Encapsulation in Mars Hill, NC
This crawlspace had very serious water problems. The pictures show just how bad the water intrusion was. The water was pouring into the crawlspace during rainstorms and was pooling on top of the home's old crawlspace liner. While it still would not have been good for the water to soak into the ground, the water sitting on top of the liner almost guarantees that it will evaporate and soak into something above it; i.e. floor joists and insulation. Fortunately, our crew was able to come out there in a reasonable amount of time to install the CleanSpace and accompanying products before anything serious happened!
The "before" picture shows this pooling very well. One of the larger puddles can be seen in the middle of this picture, by the back wall. Not only is there large puddles of water throughout the crawlspace, but there is also a lot of condensation under this liner, which would not necessarily be a bad thing if the liner was sealed correctly, but because it is not, the moisture is still able to make its way out of the liner and up to the floor joists.
The "after" picture shows the same area, but with the CleanSpace (and other products) installed. There is no water visible and never will be with this liner installed. It is sealed up tight, and with the proper products, like the SuperSump sump pump that was installed, this homeowner will not have to worry about their crawlspace flooding again. Another way that the moisture and humidity levels are kept in check is by the SantaFe Edge II dehumidifier that was installed by our crew!
Crawlspace With Wet Insulation in Pendleton, SC Gets New CleanSpace Encapsulation
There are many different signs of an increased moisture level under a home. One of the most obvious signs of moisture in a crawlspace is sagging of falling insulation. This happens because the water is soaked up by the insulation, as it is extremely absorbent. This can easily lead to more problems such as mold growth if nothing is done about the moisture problems.
This is what had begun to happen in this crawlspace. The moisture levels in the crawlspace had been increasing and the insulation was just soaking it all up like a sponge. While this was not a good thing, they homeowners had caught the problem before any real damage had been done. This gave our System Design Specialist a chance to assess what the crawlspace needed and what the best fix would be for the area.
Once the crew got out there they began to install our system. This system mainly consisted of the CleanSpace liner to encapsulate the area. The picture does a pretty good at showing how well our crews install the CleanSpace, it is laid down very tight to the ground and walls in order to utilize space and help to prevent the CleanSpace from being punctured or ripped off of the wall easily. It also makes the crawlspace look much, much better! The other important part of the installation was the dehumidifier that was installed, this ensures that the moisture level in the crawlspace stays below the threshold where mold can grow.
Crawlspace Encapsulation with CleanSpace in Liberty, SC
CleanSpace can really transform a crawlspace, as this customer in Liberty found out. This crawlspace had a lot of exposed ground and a lot of standing water, which can be very detrimental to your crawlspace's (and home's) overall health. This water will evaporate and start to weaken a home's wooden floor joists and begin to grow mold.
The "before" picture shows off a lot about this crawlspace. While it does not seem that bad, there are obvious signs of water in the crawlspace. The biggest sign is the amount of dirt on the old liner. While some of this may just be from workers crawling around or loose clay, the majority of this dirt/clay comes from water being in the crawlspace and moving the clay onto the liner. Once there, the water pools on the liner and begins to evaporate. We also see a lot of open ground in this photo, because the liner was not properly installed or secured onto the walls of the crawlspace.
The "after" picture shows a much brighter, cleaner, and water free crawlspace. This is the exact same area as the before picture but does not look like it at all. The CleanSpace liner is laid out following the contours of the crawlspace ground and walls. You will not ever have to worry about accidentally tearing it off the wall by walking or crawling on it. This liner will stay looking this good because there is no open earth to be exposed to.
Turtl Crawlspace Entrance Door Installation in Cedar Mountain, NC
This is something that you do not get to see every day because it is not an item we get to install very often! While most homes have a crawlspace door above ground level, some are below ground level and therefore have an entrance like you see above. We use Everlast Doors which create an airtight seal around the entrance when the access points are above ground, but when the access points are like this, we have to use a Turtl.
The "before" photo shows off the crawlspace entrance before any products had been installed. As you can see it is a very crude entrance, with only a sheet of metal to cover the hole. This allows a lot of outside air to get inside the crawlspace, which can cause the relative humidity to increase and moisture to collect on surfaces in the crawl space.
The "after" photo shows the installed Turtl crawlspace entrance over a year after being installed. As you can see, it is certainly doing its job. While a little dirty, it still provides a tight seal that does not allow outside air to get inside the crawlspace. As you can see, this product is made of plastic and therefore will never break down or decompose like a wooden door would.
