 Crawlspaces with a dirt floor are a magnet for water. Exposed earth carries with it water vapor and other natural gases you do not want floating throughout your home. Because of this, the crawlspaces are extremely humid which causes people to think to vent them. However, what a lot of people don’t realize is that the venting keeps the humidity exactly the same as it is outside. The problem here is that when it’s humid outside, the crawlspace will be humid as well. There’s no way to win.

This Williamston, South Carolina crawlspace was experiencing all of the above and more. The solution looks fantastic. Let’s zoom in on the “after” photo. What we have here is the complete install of CleanSpace a thick, 20mils liner we always use in crawlspaces. It acts as a barrier and shield from the earth. It’s white so you can instantly see how well the products are doing.

The strange thing about crawlspaces is that they are never contained in one place, but that is easy to forget. Disuse usually fades the problematic space from our minds, but it still exists and it still causes issues for the rest of the house.

A SumpPump is to flush out entering water and excess water from the dehumidifier from the crawlspace. Together with all these tools, the crawlspace is completely protected from moisture.
