To be stable, strong and level, the floor above a crawl space requires solid mid-span support that's usually provided by a post-and-beam assembly. But beams are often undersized, and many contractors use wooden posts that can rot, shift and settle. When this happens, floor joists sag and other structural problems occur. The SmartJack system is a foundation repair product that provides a permanent solution to these problems.

This homeowner in South Salem, NY has a floor over their crawlspace that was sagging. They called us at Connecticut Basement Systems to have our Foundation Supportworks Team come out to fix the problem. One of our Sales Consultants, Steve Machniz, went out to estimate their issues. Soon after, one of our Foreman, Sergio Alves, and his crew tackled this project. They installed SmartJacks throughout the crawlspace, making the foundation stronger and straightening out the sagging floors. Now the homeowner can live worry-free knowing their floor is stable.

Foundation Supportworks Push Piers are made of steel and are driven deep into the soil beneath a foundation to solve settlement problems. Push piers can be installed inside or outside your foundation walls and are not visible once the repair is complete. Push piers not only stop settlement but lift the foundation back to its original position, closing cracks and improving window and door operation.

This West Haven crawl space flooded with 2 feet of water and the homeowners needed a solution to repair and prevent this damage from reoccurring. They quickly gave Connecticut Basement Systems a call to solve the problem.

Our System Design Specialist, Brad Glazer, quickly came to evaluate the situation. He concluded that the crawl space would need SmartJacks, a TripleSafe Sump Pump, a CleanSpace Liner and a Sanidry to repair the damage. With a plan set, Garfield Sanderson and his production team came to the home to start the project.

Smart Jacks were installed to the crawl space to stabilize sagging beams and provide a secure environment, supporting loads of more than 60,000 pounds. Then, a TripleSafe Sump Pump was installed to keep the basement dry with the protection of its 3-pump system. CleanSpace Liner was placed in the crawlspace, which is the durable white material seen in the after photo. The CleanSpace Liner prevents water vapor and humidity from passing through the walls and floors. Lastly, the Sanidry was installed to control humidity and prevent basement mold and mildew. The combination of all of these basement waterproofing products will ensure a pleasant dry crawl space.

As you can see from the after picture, this West Haven crawl space is in perfect order and is waterproof. Now these homeowners are worry free of having a flood destroy their space again thanks to Connecticut Basement Systems.
