Wall Anchors Save Bowing Basement Wall in New Era, MI
These homeowners called because the block foundation wall in their basement was failing. One of the first signs of a bowing wall is horizontal cracking, which is what we found in this home. Without a proper solution to stabilize the wall, the soil surrounding the home will continue to put pressure on the wall and the cracks will continue to increase in width, resulting in a failing wall.
Our team of experts installed the Geo-Lock wall anchors to stabilize the wall and hopefully move it back to its original position. To install this system, we started by digging a hole in the soil outside of the foundation wall where we placed a steel earth anchor. A steel rod was drilled into the wall and was then connected to the anchor in the ground. Finally, we installed an interior wall plate over the rod in the basement and we replaced the backfill and sod outside.
This system immediately stabilized the basement wall and has the ability to be tightened over time to shift the wall back to its original position.
Repairing Crawl Spaces in Saugatuck, MI
A customer called our team because he was encountering foundational issues in his crawl space. So our team installed SmartJack, a system that puts a stop to your sagging floors. Due to the moisture and soils in your crawl space, floors above crawl spaces are vulnerable. The SmartJack system provides a permanent fix to these issues by using steel columns, threaded rods and a solid base to address any issues your crawl space may introduce to your floors. Installing this system usually takes less than a day and it provides immediate stabilization.
SmartJacks Stabilize Retired Couple's Edwardsburg, MI Home
Laurie and Jim’s found Ayers through their neighbor, who we did work for a few years ago. They were enjoying their retirement in their Edwardsburg, MI lake home when they noticed sagging floors above the crawlspace. They called Ayers and when we came for an inspection, our crew saw that the old foundation supports were extremely corroded and needed to be replaced.
Our crew decided SmartJacks would be the perfect solution for their home. SmartJacks are steel supports that balance the foundation of the crawlspace, lifting it to its original position. They can be adjusted so the home will never shift out of place and are anchored into the ground with poured concrete.
Laurie and Jim were ecstatic to get their peace of mind back regarding the structural integrity of their home. This home will be their forever home and Laurie and Jim are so excited to start this new chapter together.
One Basement Problem Take Care of at a Time in Whitehall, MI
When this customer’s retaining basement wall in Whitehall, MI started bowing, she gave us a call. The long horizontal crack running through the wall is a huge tip that the wall is bowing inward. Originally, she planned to have both the bowing wall and leaking floor taken care of. But after a snafu with the insurance company, she was forced to pick just one of the problems to address. Our system design specialist warned the owner that if her foundation wasn’t saved, she soon wouldn’t have a leaking basement left to repair.
After realizing the severity of the issue, she agreed to move ahead with the project. The beams in the after photo are a part of our PowerBrace System. Our crew installed 4 different beams that spanned from floor to ceiling, in front of the retaining wall. Once attached to the ceiling with a special bolt bracket, the system is capable of stopping the inward motion of walls and even restoring them back to their original position. Now, the owner can move onto fixing her other basement problems without worrying about her entire basement caving in.
Retaining Wall Lifted Supported In Whitehall, MI
This retaining wall along the side of this deck was starting to sink on one side. This exposed a sizeable crack in the middle of the wall. The stones at the bottom of the sinking portion were pushing on the deck boards as well causing further problems. We were able to excavate on the outside of the wall and we installed four helical piers along the wall. Helical piers are long steel shafts which are driven into the ground until the reach competent soil. A foundation bracket is put on the top of the piers and sits right against the footing of the structure. This permanently and reliably supports the structure. Once the piers were in place, we back filled the soil. The portion of the wall that had previously been sinking had been lifted and the crack had been minimized. We sealed the crack to protect the wall from further damage and the job was done. This wall should now stay permanently in the same position with no worries of settling or sinking.
