The customer approached us at a home show for help with her crawl space. Her home's floors were cold and she suspected she was losing heat through the crawl space. She wanted to stop paying to heat the ground, and to have a more comfortable home.

As she suspected, the crawl space was a huge energy drain, allowing the cold ground to affect the house above it. We installed the CleanSpace vapor barrier system along with our Ultimate Energy Savings package - TerraBlock insulation on the floor and SilverGlo insulation on the walls, as well as rim joist foam to finish the job.

The basement of this Richland, MI home was leaking through the wall where the well pipe penetrated the wall. It’s very common for plumbing pipes to cause leakage at the spot of entry due to how often they move. The before photo shows the water damage around the pipe and where it leaked down to the floor. In the after photo, the leak has been solved with the FlexiSpan System. The system works by first plugging the leak with a flexible sealant, and then another layer of polymer creates a drainage route for any water that does leak through. The drainage layer then directs water to a drain well at the foot of the wall. You can see in the after photo where fresh concrete was poured after the drain well was installed. The leaking pipe won't bother this home again.

For the past few years, Annette and Thomas have had a drafty house. Their home is especially cooler in the winter because their crawl space isn't properly sealed off. So our team insulated their rim joists. Small cracks and seams can exist around rim joists, but after insulating them all of those cracks are sealed off. Now airflow is restricted keeping outside air out and inside air in. Annette and Thomas will no longer have to worry about their home being cold during the long winter months in Michigan.

This basement didn't often have water collecting in it but it definitely felt moist and it smelled musty. Our team had the fix. We installed a perimeter water proofing system along the base of the walls to collect and measurable amount of water seeping in. We then installed a SuperSump system to create a mechanism for that water to removed from the home. We then put BrightWall paneling on the walls. This paneling not only brightens up a room at a low cost but it also acts as a vapor barrier and allows any moisture to flow freely behind the paneling into the drainage system without the homeowner ever really knowing that its happening. Finally, we put a SaniDry XP dehumidifier in the space to remove water vapors from the basement and keep the space smelling great. The runoff from the dehumidifier will flow right into the sump system and out of the home.
