For many of us, the idea of walls closing in on us is a terrifying thought. It’s even more terrifying when there’s the potential for that to come true in your own home.

The walls of this basement in Hopkins, MI were adorned with stair-step cracks and diagonal cracking at the corners—both signs of wall failure. When one of the walls in the basement started to bow, or buckle in the middle, the homeowners knew that things were getting serious.

Our team visited the home and got to work stabilizing the walls using the Power Brace System. These steel beams are fixed to the floor joists, and can be tightened over time to help straighten the walls. The zinc coating on the beams makes them resistant to corrosion, so you can be sure they’ll do their job for years to come. 

The concrete in Marshall’s driveway was uneven so he called our team. To fix his problem, we installed PolyLevel, a system designed to fix concrete slabs that have sunk by using polyurethane foam that expands and has a high density in order to raise the concrete. The process is quite simple and is done by drilling small holes into the concrete and then inserting the foam into the holes. Also, the PolyLevel system is waterproof and long-lasting.

This Schoolcraft home had cracked and bowed walls in the basement. The owner wanted a solution that would stop the wall from moving and keep the home standing. We used CarbonArmor to stabilize the basement walls which installs quickly and will not take up any usable space or impact future basement finishings.

The PowerBrace system connects steel beams to joists above the wall with steel brackets. Afterwards, everything is tightened into place and the wall is secure once again.
