Karen has dealt with cold feet for as long as she can remember but recently realized she also had cold floors. She researched online and called Ayers to learn more about our crawl space encapsulation options. Our team of experts dropped by her house to examine the issue and recommended installing the CleanSpace vapor barrier. CleanSpace is designed to reduce harmful ventilation and deter moisture entry in the crawl space. Ventilation carries organic material underneath the home through the crawl space, but CleanSpace entirely encapsulates the area with an antimicrobial-lined material. Karen can't believe the difference!

A new homeowner in Gaylord, MI, was unfamiliar with crawl spaces and wanted to ensure their recently purchased home stayed safe from potential moisture and structural issues.

With a small, dirt-floor crawl space covered by plastic, we installed CleanSpace vapor barrier, Rim Joist Insulation, and FoamMax Crawl Space Insulation to create an airtight, insulated environment. To address humidity and air quality, we added a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier, giving the homeowner peace of mind and protecting their new home for years to come.

The fieldstone walls in the before photo were allowing water to easily come into this basement. Since he was concerned about the possible effects of the saturation, the owner gave us a call for a solution. Our cure for all things moisture or water vapor related is the CleanSpace vapor barrier. CleanSpace is a plastic liner that won’t allow mold to grow or moisture to pass through. As you can see in the after photo, at the foot of the wall there also sits a perimeter drainage system. Before the installation was completed, the crew covered the system with concrete. While CleanSpace won’t stop the wall from leaking completely, it will direct the water from those leaks into the Waterguard drainage system for discharge. Neither water or its vapor will reach the inside of this CleanSpace system. 

When our customers called, they had two major problems with their damp crawl space: a small entrance, and open vents.

As we mentioned last week, we can make our way into even the smallest of crawl spaces. The vents were taken care of with some CleanSpace vent covers after we encapsulated the entire space with the CleanSpace vapor barrier system.

Dawn wants her crawl space insulated and a solution to the moisture in it. We used spray foam to keep the area warm. To keep the moisture out we used Drainage Matting, CleanSpace, and the SaniDry XP. These halt moisture from coming in through the foundation and protect the structure from mold!
