Wet Basement Restored in Mound, MN
Ruth O. in Mound, MN was suffering from water leaking in to her basement. She had been dealing with the problem for quite some time now and was tired of dealing with it. After researching local waterproofing company’s, she got in touch with the waterproofing experts at American Waterworks. We sent one of our Design Specialists, Chad Johnson, to her home to provide her with a solution and a free estimate. Chad worked with Ruth to develop the right waterproofing plan for her and her home. She liked the proposal that Chad developed, so she scheduled a date for our production team to install the waterproofing system.
Our crew installed our WaterGuard drainage system around the stairs, where the water was leaking in. Then, they installed a SuperSump sump pump and a discharge line to the outside of the home. The water is now properly guided through the drainage system to the sump pump. Then, the sump pump pushes the water through the discharge line and the water is expelled from the home. Our waterproofing system is backed by a lifetime warranty, so Ruth now has peace of mind that her basement will remain dry and that she chose the right solution.

Basement Waterproofing Transformation in Mound, MN
Tom, from Mound, MN, gave us a call when he began to notice water entering the basement of his home. Tom knew that if he left the problem unresolved then he would run the risk of mold or mildew accumulating in the space. When Tom called, he used his FREE estimate, which entitled him to a thorough inspection by one of our Design Specialists from our waterproofing and foundation division. Once the walk-through was over, our Design Specialist made a few recommendations as to how we could best fix Tom's situation. First, he recommended that we use our CleanSpace basement wall vapor barrier. He explained to Tom that this 100% waterproof plastic vapor barrier is used to prevent leaks and mold growth in any basement, by trapping any moisture behind the plastic barrier. Going hand-in-hand with this product, he also recommended our WaterGuard draining system. Our Design Specialist told Tom that this drainage system could be installed below the floor, but above the foundation footing of the home, and works to collect any excess water trapped behind the CleanSpace or entering through cracks in the floor, and directs said water to the appropriate place, like a sump pump. Tom agreed with the recommendations made and work began shortly after. Our Foreman, Kiko, and his crew ended up installing 81ft of our CleanSpace and another 81ft of our WaterGuard drainage system.
When the project was complete, Tom was happy to know his basement waterproofing issues were in the past!
High Levels of Radon Gas Eliminated from Mound, MN, Home
A homeowner from Mound, MN, had recently learned about the dangers of radon gas. Not wanting his household to be exposed for longer than necessary, he looked into Minnesota radon specialists, and quickly found American Waterworks. He was impressed with our pictures of radon mitigation systems we had installed in his area and decided to sign up for his FREE estimate.
Several weeks later, Kyle P, one of our Design Specialists, was headed to the home. The first part of Kyle's inspection included placing a continuous radon monitoring test in the home's lowest level. The goal of this test is to record radon levels in the home over some time, delivering an average result after the 48-hour test. Then, Kyle went about the rest of his inspection, meeting up with the customer after he finished. Kyle began by commending the homeowner for having their home tested. Kyle gave some background on radon gas and why homeowners should be concerned, stating that radon is a radioactive gas that is emitted as the soil surrounding your home breaks down. It enters the home through small holes and cracks in the foundation and is odorless, colorless, and tasteless, making it an invisible threat to the lining of your lungs. Radon gas is the second leading cause of lung cancer, right behind cigarette smoking, claiming 21,000 lives annually. The only way to combat this dangerous gas? Have your home regularly tested and mitigated if a professional advises you to do so. Kyle finished by stating that the EPA recommends mitigating a home at 4 pCi/L or higher, so if the results returned higher than that, he would strongly urge the homeowner to consider a radon mitigation system. A typical radon mitigation system consists of a large-diameter plastic pipe that connects the air beneath your foundation to the outdoors. An in-line fan sucks radon-rich air from beneath your foundation and expels this hazardous air to the exterior. Instead of entering your basement or other living space area through numerous gaps and cracks in the foundation, radon gas is extracted from beneath your foundation before it can permeate into interior space. The homeowner agreed with Kyle's plan but decided to wait for the results of the test to return. Several days later, Kyle was back out at the home to read the results, which returned well above 4 pCi/L so the homeowner and Kyle found a good day for the system to be installed.
The project date rolled around and our Foreman, Dakota M, and his team were able to place the system on the exterior of the home. Now, our customer has renewed faith in the air circulating his home!
