Crawl Space Encapsulation Before and After in Minot, ND
A homeowner in Minot, ND, noticed a foul smell around their home. Unsure of the source, they began looking throughout their home. They discovered the smell was coming from the crawl space underneath their home. Worried about the long-term effects, the homeowner wanted to find a professional, lasting solution. The homeowner knew a friend who had a similar issue and they recommended working with us, American Waterworks. The homeowner called our Appointment Center and signed up for their FREE estimate. After the estimate was set, the homeowner waited for the arrival of James, one of our Design Specialists. Once James arrived, he introduced himself to the homeowners and began investigating the crawl space. James completed his detailed inspection of the crawl space and determined it needed to be encapsulated. James proposed the plan and the benefits it would have in their home. The homeowners agreed with James' suggestion and the plans were passed along to the office for approval. Once approved, the plans were sent to our Foreman, Roel, and his crew. Roel and his crew traveled to the home and began encapsulating the crawl space. First, the crew installed Drainage Matting on the crawl space floor. Next, the crew installed Foamax on the crawl space walls. Once the Foamax was secured, the crew attached CleanSpace to the crawl space walls and basement floor. The crew successfully encapsulated the entire crawl space, so they cleaned up their materials and left the home. The homeowner was impressed with the excellent work completed by the crew. American Waterowroks is happy to assist its customers achieve their home goals.
Basement Waterproofed in Adrian, MN
Lindsay and Ryan L. of Adrian, MN had water leaking from her foundation walls into her basement, making her feel nervous about the value of her home. She needed repairs as soon as possible so we sent out our Design Specialist, Jared Bruns. Jared inspected her problems and came up with a solution. Lindsey and Ryan got all of their questions answered, so they scheduled an installation date.
Our Foreman, Arturo Mares, and his production team began the installation by breaking out the concrete floor perimeter, forming a trench. In the trench, our team installed 148 feet of our WaterGuard System, which is made to collect water seepage from basement walls and act like an underground drain. Next, Arturo and his team applied 50 feet of our CleanSpace Wall System, which prevents humidity and mold build-up, provides the room with a neat and clean look, and guides the water into the WaterGuard. To complete the project, Arturo and his team covered the open gaps with rock and applied new concrete. Lindsay and Ryan were happy with the results and enjoyed watching the project from start to finish!
Radon Mitigation in Fort Ransom, ND
Chad from Fort Ransom, ND was looking to have an active radon system with a fan added to his home. After scheduling his FREE estimate, our Design Specialist Ian headed out to the property. After his inspection, he expressed concern that the home might be subject to radon gas. He explained that this hazardous, invisible, and odorless gas was the second leading cause of lung cancer behind cigarette smoking. Chad agreed to have the home checked using one of our leave-behind kits. We set up the kit, and after 48-72 hours, it was sent in to obtain the results; these came back at 10.0 pCi/L. Ian explained that The Environmental Protection Agency recommends taking action for anything above 4 pCi/L. He went on to explain that 1 pCi/L of Radon is equivalent to smoking 2.5 cigarettes.
Ian suggested having a new extraction point installed to depressurize the home. He explained that once the system was installed, it would work to pull Radon from the house, pipe it upwards through venting, and push it out and away from the home. Chad agreed with Ian's recommendation, and work began shortly after. Our Foreman, Cameron, and his crew quickly and efficiently installed the system.
First, The SuperSump Plus was added with a Zoeller 1/2HP sump pump for more power. In addition to this, the plan was to add a discharge line that would ensure the radon went up and out of the house.
Our team connected PVC piping from the sump pump to the ceiling and out of the home, where our team installed the system. The mitigation system is the heart of the system; if it isn't working properly, no radon will be able to escape the home. Once they installed the system and its cover outside the home, they connected PVC piping from the system alongside the home until it reached the roof. The radon was able to escape the home quickly and efficiently. Chad was glad he got this taken care of, and his peace of mind was restored knowing he was breathing in safe air.
