Owners of this family cabin in Remer, MN had grand plans to convert this space to their full-time home. After completing an add-on to this cabin originally built in the 90's, they noticed issues with the foundation's ability to keep out water. After meeting us at the Grand Rapids Home Show, they decided to tackle their water troubles with DBS. 

Our Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo visited the home and provided a free, no-obligation estimate for the waterproofing work. It was determined that both internal and external systems for waterproofing were needed to protect this home.

DBS Foreman Nick Burley and his production crew installed the exterior waterproofing system. They first excavated soil around the cabin foundation, installed a french drain, as well as covered the foundation in our SentrySeal® waterproof membrane. After filling the drain trench with aggregate gravel, backfilling with soil, and tamping the ground, the exterior waterproofing was complete. 

From there, DBS Foreman Taylor Allen and crew worked on the interior waterproofing job. The crew began by breaking out concrete to create a trench around the cabin's footing. Our WaterGuard® drain system was put into place and will effectively capture wall and floor seepage, directing it to a new DoubleSafe™ sump pump. The crew finished the job by burying the discharge line in the lawn away from the home. 

This family can now rest easy knowing their favorite retreat will be protected for years to come.

This customer contacted DBS after noticing that water comes into their basement every spring thaw and that each time it happens, their is a lot of water but no visible cracks.  When our Design Specialist went out to the property, he recommended installing a WaterGuard® along the walls of the basement to help with water flow. WaterGuard does this by effectively capturing wall and floor seepage before it reaches your basement floor. The water enters the system via inlet holes and flows through the drainage pipe to your sump pump.

Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo went to the home to conduct a free no-obligation estimate for the homeowner. After a thorough inspection, Henrik recommended our waterproofing system.

A DBS Foreman led the installation of this project with assistance from a crew. Together they installed a WaterGuard® french drain system in the basement by jackhammering trenched for the drains to be placed into and smoothing over the voids with concrete for a flush finish. The crew finished the project by installing a new sump pump.

Now that the basement has been thoroughly waterproofed, the homeowner can relax with peace of mind.

Foreman Glen Olcott led the installation of this project with help from a crew. Together, the team installed the drain lines underneath the floor of the basement. These drains collect the water and transport it to the newly installed sump pump that expels the water from the home.
