This special addition to your discharge line helps to ensure that water will still be pumped out of your basement even when the temperatures drop. It is installed outside of the home and projects water away from your foundation, in the event your sump pump discharge line freezes or clogs. 

The IceGuard gives the water a secondary route to escape through the slotted openings in the drainpipe. This added layer of protection against flooding assured this homeowner that their basement would stay dry no matter what.
