Insulation Removal and Replaced - Windsor, ON

This is another attic that has fiberglass insulation in the joists. We know that this isn't an ideal product for the attic- not to mention mice love fiberglass insulation! After we removed the insulation, our team used closed-cell foam to seal top plate, wire and pipe penetrations to ensure minimal heat loss! Finally, we returned the following day to blow-in new 17" R60 cellulose insulation. We also added air sealing around the hatch access.

Great job Logan, Shane and Tyler in this home!

Attic Insulation upgrade in Windsor, ON

It is important to look at the vapour barrier during and attic insulation upgrade. Adding insulation on top of existing insulation will not provide the best result if the barrier is not complete. Inspect all breaks in the barrier including light fixtures, ceiling fans, plumbing and electrical pass throughs and any cuts or tears. These should be sealed prior to adding any new insulation.

In this case, the barrier was almost done, Advanced Basement Systems needed to remove the old insulation seal around the openings and finally blow in cellulose.

If you suspect your insulation is not keeping the heat in, give Advanced Basement Systems and call.

Attic Insulation Upgrade in Petrolia, ON

Before:

Many homes were built using fiberglass batt insulation in the attic. It does add insulation R value but not to the recommended amount for Ontario weather. Adding more insulation on top of the old may not give you the results you need to keep the home comfortable. A continuous vapour barrier under the insulation is a vital component to keep warm air in and cold air out.

After:

Advanced Basement Systems will remove old insulation, then seal all openings in the vapour barrier before adding the required amount of blown in cellulose. 17 inches of cellulose blown in insulation is the recommended amount to bring the R-value up to R60.

If your home has wide temperature swings or the HVAC systems runs often, this could be a sign of attic insulation issues.

Attic Insulation Improvements in Camlachie, ON

Proper attic insulation is important to keep the living space in a home comfortable and energy efficient all year long. In winter the heat from inside the home will migrate outside, in summer the heat from outside will migrate to the inside.

Advanced Basement Systems was called because the home had uneven spots of insulation in the attic creating a situation of excess energy use just to keep the living space comfortable. The old insulation was removed, the vapour barrier was inspected and new blown in cellulose was added. The home is now more efficient and the HVAC system does not have to work as hard all year long.

Hot Roof Spray Foam Insulation - Thamesville, ON

Before

The owners converted and existing garage into a workshop and wanted to use the space all year and requested the hot roof method, in which there is no attic and the roof sheathing is exposed and spray foamed.

After

Spray foam insulation was used as an efficient way to provide insulation. The foam will add a vapour barrier and required R-value to the space. The Advanced Basement Systems team has been trained and are certified to work from heights and can get to the peak points in the building.
