Eliminating Walkway Tripping Hazards in Newmarket, ON
A home in Newmarket, Ontario had a front and side walkway that had sunk over the years. The front walkway had fallen 3 inches from the initial pour and was causing a trip hazard as the step up to the front porch was now 11 inches. The customer stated that water would pool on the front walkway as it was no longer sloping away from the patio. With water pooling on the walkway, there was also a slip hazard in the winter when the water would freeze.
The customer called Canadian Concrete Leveling and talked to John DiNicolantonio; our Project Manager to explain what would be done to fix the issues. Billy McKeown and Kyle McKeown, our Poly Foremen, came in and drilled small dime sized holes through the concrete and used our PolyLevel® polyurethane Injection underneath the slabs. The polyurethane followed the path of least resistance underneath the concrete to fill all of the voids and then expanded. We were able to use the expansion of the polyurethane to lift the walkways and protect them from a further settlement. The PolyLevel® lifted and leveled both the front and side walkways. The steps are now much more manageable, and water no longer pools on the front walkway.

The walkway and shed along the side of the house had sunk 2.5 inches which were causing a similar issue with the step leading into the garage. The side walkway was sloping away, but the customer was concerned about the height of the step and the potential for further settlement. The step height was very high and posed a serious trip hazard. With water pooling on the walkway, there was also a slip hazard in the winter when the water would freeze.

Worried Grandkids Reach Out for Sinking Pool Deck in Markham, Ontario
Many kids spend time in the summer with their grandparents. Of course, this can be to the delight of grandma and grandpa and sometimes to the grandkids, but the entire group gets to make cherished memories.
In Markham, Ontario, a couple was looking forward to having their grandchildren spend a few weeks with them in the summer, but there was one problem; the concrete around their pool was sinking, creating numerous trip hazards. They wanted the kids to wander and enjoy the space, but they were uneasy about the raised edges.
They reached out to Canadian Concrete Leveling and met with Project Manager Kyle O’Brien. Kyle inspected the pool deck and explained that draining water could cause loose-fill soils to wash away, leading to sinking concrete. He walked them through our PolyLevel® System, which uses expanding polyurethane to list sinking slabs. He also told them about our NexusPro® Sealant, a UV-resistant sealant used for seams and cracks. The couple was excited to hear about our non-invasive solutions and eagerly agreed to both options.
Foreman Kyle McKeown started the morning repair by drilling dime-sized holes in the slabs as injection ports through the slabs. Next, he pumped the two-part PolyLevel®, and as it mixed, it expanded to lift the concrete above. Once the pool deck was back to a safe level, he sealed the seams between the slabs with NexusPro®, providing a flexible yet watertight seal.
The grandparents were amazed by the work we were able to do and even more blown away by the fact it was done in only a day. They can’t wait to have some peace of mind while they entertain their grandkids in the summer!

Guests Complain About Sinking Front Steps in Richmond Hill, Ontario
When you have company over, the last thing you want is for them to trip and fall before they even make it into your house.
A customer in Richmond Hill, Ontario, decided to call Canadian Concrete Leveling after hearing visitors' complaints about their front steps. The concrete was settling, which created a considerable trip hazard right in front of the main door.
Project Manager Joe McColl travelled to the home and inspected the front walkway. The step was sinking evenly, so Joe determined the cause was poor fill materials. As these soils erode and wash away over time, it makes room for the step to sink. Joe showed the customer a demonstration video of how our PolyLevel® System uses expanding polyurethane injections to lift the steps back to a safe grade.
Foreman Kyle McKeown started the repair by drilling dime-sized holes in the concrete surface. He used these holes as injection ports for our high-density polyurethane. Kyle carefully installed the solution while ensuring the steps lifted evenly. Once the repair was complete, Kyle patched the holes with fresh concrete.
The customer is happy his guests no longer complain every time they come over. His investment is protected, and he's comfortable knowing our solution comes with a warranty.
