Before

This older New London, WI home had a fieldstone basement that struggled with ongoing moisture. Water and moisture could make their way through the irregular stone foundation, leaving the basement damp and creating the kind of humid conditions that can contribute to musty odors.

Fieldstone foundations present unique waterproofing challenges because they contain numerous joints, gaps and uneven surfaces compared with modern poured concrete walls. A SuperSump® system was installed to collect and pump groundwater safely away from the foundation.

To address humidity and help keep the basement environment drier, Sure-Dry also installed a SaniDry™ dehumidifier. Unlike a small portable dehumidifier that requires frequent emptying, the system is designed for the demands of a basement environment and drains automatically.

Together, the wall encapsulation, sump system and humidity control transformed this damp fieldstone basement into a cleaner, drier and better-protected area beneath the home.
