Protecting Elmira, MI, Basement from Leaking Water with TripleSafe
Jackie went into her basement and was shocked at how much water was on the floor. Knowing she didn't know how to fix it, she figured it was time to call Ayers. We sent a team of specialists to Jackie's house to inspect her basement and recommend the best solution possible. Upon examination, it was clear Jackie needed the TripleSafe sump pump system. As a system, TripleSafe has three pumps for all circumstances, making the system adaptable and proactive against pump failure. If the first pump should fail, there's a backup, and if the power goes out, there's a battery-powered pump to ensure your system continues working. Jackie is ecstatic to have her basement dry once again!
Egress Window Installed in Elsie, MI Basement
This homeowner wanted to get an egress window installed in their basement in place of one of the smaller windows. This is a safe and smart idea as they plan to build a few bedrooms in the basement. Due to building code, if you have bedrooms in your basement you need to have two ways to escape in case of an emergency. The first one being the door and the second is usually a window large enough to climb out of. We were able to install a nice, large egress window in this basement. It's now ready for bedrooms to be added and lived in safely.
Waterproofing a Munith MI Basement
Don and his wife bought this home in January to live in when they retire in 5-10 years. They are currently working on finishing the basement but have heavy water intrusion that is halting that project. They are hoping to get everything around the home done and fixed up so they have nothing to worry about once they actually retire. We installed the TripleSafe sump pump to provide 3 levels of protection and peace of mind for the homeowners. We also installed the WaterGuard drain system to send the water to the sump pump so it can be expelled outside the home. Lastly, we used BrightWall to act as a vapor barrier to prevent water vapor or humidity from passing through into the space and keeping the home safe from mold or rot!
Waterproofing Allows Munith, MI Couple to Retire in Peace
Don and his wife are currently working on finishing their Munith, MI home that they purchased in January. The couple plans on retiring in the next 5-10 years, so they really want to make sure their home is in tip-top shape before they retire full-time. They had a sump pump, but the waterline was so high, it was making Don nervous. Ayers came out for an inspection and saw that the water intrusion was steady and the sump pump was 2 gallons too full. Our crew determined that Don and his wife would need a new TripleSafe sump pump and WaterGuard with IceGuard.
The TripleSafe sump pump system utilizes three pumps in order to remove excess water from the basement. The second and third pumps are in case of emergencies so the basement can remain dry, even when the power goes out.
WaterGuard is a sub-floor waterproofing system that collects water that leaks through the walls and keeps dirt away from the foundation. It is installed along the perimeter of the basement and on top of the footing of the foundation. Concrete is poured on top and regular flooring can be placed on top. Finally, IceGuard was installed in conjunction with the WaterGuard. IceGuard is a simple addition to your already existing sump pump. It allows water to escape when the discharge line is frozen and prevents your basement flooding in cold weather. IceGuard is completely automatic, meaning after the initial installation, it’s done.
Don and his wife were ecstatic with the work completed by Ayers and our crew and cannot wait to retire full-time. The were so impressed with the level of professionalism and craftsmanship that they would be thrilled to have us back if ever the need arises.
Harbor Springs Home Saves Energy (and Floors!) with CleanSpace
This home is only used seasonally, but every year upon returning, the homeowners noticed that it smelled...musty. Eventually, they realized the floors weren't quite level and there were some soft spots and well as cold spots. These are all signs of a leaking crawl space and are actually pretty easy to fix - if you call us, that is.
We installed a SmartDrain to deal with any future plumbing leaks and a SaniDry CX air system to manage the humidity. Then, because they were concerned with saving energy, we installed the CleanSpace encapsulation system (including drainage matting) as well as TerraBlock insulation on the floor and SilverGlo wall insulation on exterior walls.
