Freezing pipes: A homeowner's nightmare. In the wintertime, a discharge pipe connected to a sump pump really needs to stay away from freezing because if the water in the pipe is frozen, the sump pump will overflow into your basement! A Johannesburg residence realized this, and called Ayers to get their discharge line inspected. Our expert opinion? IceGuard was necessary; IceGuard is a discharge line protector that is grated, allowing water to leave your sump pump even in freezing months. Thanks to IceGuard, this home is now protected from sump pump flooding in the winter, making the basement a dry, usable space.

In order to combat a terrible water problem in this family's basement, we at Ayers suggested the TripleSafe sump pump. As it appears in the photos, a majority of water stemmed from a sump pump that did not live up to these homeowners' expectations, so our patented TripleSafe saved the day. This sump pump provides three levels of protection against water leakage-- normal water supply, heavy volumes of water, or in the case of a power outage. For normal water supply, the Zoeller ⅓ horsepower pump functions. At a heavier level, the Zoeller ½ horsepower pump is activated. In a power outage, the Ultrasump backup sump pump will pump water on a backup battery. In any situation that arises, the TripleSafe will put up its defenses for this Johannesburg home. 

Nicole's block basement walls showed clear signs of bowing. This concerned the family because they were looking to stay in this 1970s home and make it their retirement home after their adult children had all left. Although there were no signs of water intrusion through the cracks in the bowed walls, the gaps in the blocks were visible which could mean that the foundation settlement had been ongoing for some time. We installed the CarbonArmor® Wall Reinforcing System which uses carbon fiber straps which are bonded to the interior face of the wall. The benefits of this system is that Tit requires no excavation, does not impact plans to finish the basement and installs quickly. 

Maria’s home was built in 1968, but her and her husband have been living there since 2018. The cinderblock foundation slowly allows water to seep in whenever there is heavy rain. They’ve had a few different companies come out to try and fix the problem, but none of their solutions have worked. Finally they found Ayers and we came out for an inspection. Our crew determined that Maria and her husband would need us to install a TripleSafe sump pump. 

The TripleSafe sump pump system utilizes three pumps in order to remove excess water from the basement. The second and third pumps are in case of emergencies so the basement can remain dry, even when the power goes out. 

Maria and her husband were ecstatic that we were able to solve this problem for them. They can’t wait to finish the basement and add a bathroom now that the flooding is under control!
