The CleanSpace Combats the Growing Water Concerns of a Holland, MI Couple

Just a few years after purchasing their current home, David & Stephanie from Holland, MI began experiencing troubles with water in their crawlspace. They knew this would eventually lead to rotting of the wooden beams under their home. Seeking a proactive approach, this couple began searching for experts to consult. David & Stephanie saw an Ayers Basement Systems truck in their local community and knew as local experts we could likely provide them with the effective solutions they needed for their crawlspace. One morning early this winter our call center received a call from our new friends.

After going to David & Stephanie’s home and diagnosing their crawlspace needs, we prescribed our patented CleanSpace crawl space encapsulation system to address the current water issues being faced below their home. The CleanSpace encapsulation product is a 20mm thick plastic lining that completely seals off the crawlspace from the grim elements it faces below. After having their crawlspace encapsulated, David & Stephanie can now view their crawlspace as clean, dry and useful space.

Waterproofing a Home in Holland MI

The homeowners called us becuase they had critters and water coming into the crawl space. They also wanted the home to be warmer and felt he cold came from the crawl space. They called us wanting a solution to their problems.

We put Drainage Matting on the floor to allow for the movement of water under the liner and so that water can be directed towards the sump pump to be drained. Next we installed the CleanSpace Liner which is a thick durable white liner. This liner prevents critters, humidity, and water vapor from passing through. The CleanSpace Liner keeps your crawl space dry which protects your structure and insulation from mold and rot. By sealing your crawl space, you keep the summer heat out of your home and the winter cold away from your furnace, water heater, and other utilities.

Completing a Family Home in Holland, MI with Crawl Space Encapsulation

A homeowner in Holland, MI, built his family home in 1983 but could never fully complete the crawl space due to restrictions from the DNR. Over the years, the unsealed space allowed moisture and critters to enter, leading to cold floors and damage. The homeowner tried insulating the floors, but the material absorbed moisture, sagged, and trapped cold air beneath the house.

The Ayers team removed the old insulation, installed insulation panels along the crawl space walls, and sealed the area with CleanSpace to keep moisture out. Drainage matting and CleanSpace were applied to the floor, ensuring the crawl space remained dry and insulated.

Now, the home is protected from moisture, providing a warmer, more efficient living space.

SaniDry CX Solves a Moisture Problem in Holland, MI

After this crawl space was penetrated by water back in the early spring, the homeowners gave us a call to find out more about their repair options. When our system design specialist arrived he noticed that there was no standing water, but the crawl space was extremely moist. To counter this problem, he drew up a plan for a SaniDry CX dehumidifier and a SmartSump sump pump. SmartSump is our solution for providing sump pumps inside of crawl spaces.  The sump is smaller sized but powerful enough to keep any crawl space dry. SaniDry CX dehumidifiers are self-draining, so the moisture that was so prevalent in the crawl space when our design specialist visited won’t occur again. The dehumidifier can be seen hanging from the ceiling in the after photo with a hose connecting it to the SmartSump for discharge. Neither moisture nor standing water will be a problem for this crawl space again.

Crawl Space in Holland, MI Becomes Usable Storage Space

This couple in Holland,MI wanted to clean up and encapsulate their crawlspace, hopefully making it a usable storage space for kayaks and other water sports supplies. We were able to help them accomplish that goal thanks to our durable CleanSpace material. Most moisture barriers from crawl spaces consist of thin plastic that easily rips and doesn't attach well to walls. The CleanSpace material is strong and thick and is difficult to rip. SilverGlo insulation also lines the walls to help reflect warmth back into the home and frothpak in the rim joists and cracks helps to seal off any openings. This crawl space is now in tip top shape.
