High Radon Levels Mitigated in Moorhead, MN

In Moorhead, MN, a homeowner recently learned how radon gas is the second leading cause of lung-cancer in the US. Concerned their family was unknowingly breathing in the toxic fumes, the homeowner purchased a radon testing kit. After a couple of days, the test results were above 4pCi/L, which is the recommended action level for radon by the EPA. The homeowner quickly took action and contacted us to schedule their FREE estimate.

In less than a week, our Design Specialist, James N., arrived at the home for the inspection. During the inspection, he took a close look at the layout of the home and worked closely with the homeowner on the best placement of our radon mitigation system. He recommended having our fan installed on the exterior of the home and having it connect to the concrete floor in the basement. This is designed this way so that our system could suction our the radon-rich gas and expel it above the roofline. After looking over the proposal, the homeowner decided to move forward with the project.

In about a month, our Foreman, Jackson P., arrived at the home for the installation. He began by drilling a hole through the concrete floor in the basement. Then, PVC piping is installed and connected to the exterior of the home. From there, the fan is installed and additional piping is attached to go above the roofline. Once the installation was completed, the crew cleaned up their equipment and left the home.

Once the estimate was set, the homeowner prepared for the arrival of our Design Specialist, Eric. The following week, Eric traveled to the home to begin the estimate. Eric arrived at the home and started the radon test. While the radon test was being completed, Eric began scouting for the best location to place the Radon Mitigation System. After the test finished, Eric reviewed the results and saw that the levels were above 4 pCi. To lower the levels, Eric recommended installing a Radon Mitigation System outside the home. Knowing this was their best plan of action, the homeowner decided to go ahead with the recommendations. Our Logistics team received the plans, then they were built and scheduled for a few weeks later. The project was scheduled with our Foreman, Dakota, and his crew, then they went to the home to begin the installation. Dakota installed the Radon Mitigation System along the west wall. Our Radon Mitigation System consists of a large-diameter plastic pipe that connects the air beneath your foundation to the outdoors. After Dakota installed the Radon Mitigation System, he and his crew cleaned up their materials and left the home. The homeowner was glad to know their radon risk was eliminated.
