Leaky Basement Gets Transformed in Robbinsdale, MN

A homeowner was enjoying his basement space when he noticed a small puddle forming in one of the corners. Worrying about further damage that could be done to the space, he contacted American Waterworks because of hearing positive reviews from his neighbors. When he called in, we set him up with our FREE estimate to see what the problem was. A few weeks later our Design Specialist, Jesse Williams, headed out to the property. After completing the inspection, Jesse agreed with the homeowner that it was better to take action now than wait for the problem to worsen. Jesse recommended using our WaterGuard system to address the water entering his basement. Jesse informed the homeowner that the system is an award-winning, patented below-floor drain that rests in a bed of drainage stone on top of the foundation footing. He went on to say WaterGuard® is what we usually recommend and is our most widely used drain system. It's popular because of its resistance to clogs, its easy-to-access service ports, and its ability to also collect leaking water from the basement walls. The homeowner agreed on the product and a few days later our Foreman, Juan Pena, and his crew came in with 24 ft. of the WaterGuard to fix the problem. Now our customer can enjoy his basement without worrying about water intrusion.

Radon Gas Mitigated from Minneapolis, MN, Home

A couple from Minneapolis, MN, had been watching TV one evening when they saw one of our TV ads about radon mitigation. They had previously had their crawl space sealed by our company and figured having their home tested for radon gas wouldn't hurt. They called our office and set up their FREE estimate and several weeks later, Nate B, one of our Design Specialists, was out at the home.

When Nate arrived, the first portion of his inspection required him to leave a charcoal radon test in the home's lowest level. The purpose of this test is to record the radon levels in the house, delivering the average results at the end of the test. He then proceeded with his inspection. When he concluded, he met with the homeowner. He began by commending her for having her home tested for radon. Nate then went on to say that radon is a radioactive gas emitted from the breakdown of soil surrounding your home. It finds its way into your home through small holes and cracks in the foundation of your home, silently wreaking havoc on your lungs. Nate explained that radon gas is the second leading cause of lung cancer behind cigarette smoking, claiming 21,000 lives annually. For this reason, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends taking action on any level over 4 pCi/L. Nate finished by saying that if the levels returned higher than 4 pCi/L, he would strongly urge the homeowner to consider a radon mitigation systemA typical radon mitigation system consists of a large-diameter plastic pipe that connects the air beneath your foundation to the outdoors. An in-line fan sucks radon-rich air from beneath your foundation and expels this hazardous air to the exterior. Instead of entering your basement or other living space area through numerous gaps and cracks in the foundation, radon gas is extracted from beneath your foundation before it can permeate into interior space. The homeowner liked the sound of Nate's plan but decided to hold off on choosing until the results returned. About a week or so later the results returned much higher than 4 pCi/L, so the homeowner called Nate, and the two found the best day to have the system installed.

On the day of the project, our Foreman, Geno M, and his team effortlessly placed the system within the home, successfully restoring our customer's faith in her space!

Damp Basement in Minneapolis, MN Gets Waterproofed

A homeowner in Minneapolis, MN, was facing wet basement issues such as water leaking between the wall and the footing and cracks on the walls. Concerned that the issue would worsen, the homeowner began looking into basement waterproofing contractors in the area and found us. After browsing our website and becoming impressed by our reviews, the homeowner contacted us to schedule his FREE estimate.

In less than a week, one of our Design Specialists arrived at the home to provide a thorough inspection. During the inspection, he took a close look at the problem areas and answered any questions the homeowner had. He also explained that a failed footing drain could be the likely reason why water was leaking between the wall and the floor. When this fails, water saturates the soil surrounding the foundation and enters through cracks on the wall and in the joints. To fix this issue, our Design Specialist recommended WaterGuard, our elite drainage system installed at the perimeter of the basement to collect water and send it to the sump pump, CleanSpace, our wall vapor barrier that prevents water from permeating the walls and sends any water leaks to the drainage system, SuperSump+, our sump pump system capable of removing 2,200 gallons of water per hour, and IceGuard, our anti-freeze discharge line that allows water to escape the home in case the sump pump discharge lines freeze. The homeowner happily agreed to our Design Specialist's recommendations and scheduled the installation date with our Foreman.

In about a couple of months, our Foreman, Francisco E., and his crew arrived at the home for the installation. The crew installed 15 ft of WaterGuard, 14ft of CleanSpace, 1 Supersump+, and 1 IceGuard. Once the crew was done with the installation, they cleaned up their equipment and left the home.

Basement Gets Waterproofed in Minneapolis, MN

In Minneapolis, MN a homeowner was concerned when she was in her basement space and noticed a good amount of water damage on the concrete floors. She was relieved that the basement was unfinished and didn't damage the space too much, but still wanted to prevent the issue from growing over time. She found the American Waterworks website in her search of waterproofing solutions and was interested in our FREE estimate services. She signed up for her own and once we received the request, sent over Design Specialist Dylan Woitas. Dylan carried out a detailed inspection of the basement space and suggested that to stop the current water intake for good, installing a WaterGuard system would be the best solution. The homeowner trusted his judgement and agreed to move forward with the process. When Foreman Arturo Mares and his crew arrived at the site, they made sure to talk the homeowner through the project and answer any questions before starting. Then, they installed the WaterGuard system, which works by intercepting water at the perimeter of the basement and sends it away safely to the sump pump. The homeowner was pleased with the results and thanked our crew for their hard work.
